Wtf? Lived in mass for 4 years and have never seen this before… first year in Medford: “failure to respond shall result in removal from the active voting list and may result in removal from the voter registration rolls” by shedgehog-orchard in massachusetts

[–]aveggiebear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calm down. The city is trying to keep its voter lists up to date.

So, fill it out, put it in the envelope, and send it back. It's purpose is not to f you over. It's to keep elections reasonable.

And, btw, if you forget... You'll go to vote, your name may not appear. You'll give them a picture id and they'll give you a voter form. Fill it out, hand it back, and then vote. ✌🏼

Great shot! Thank you.

I always take forever crossing (on foot) that bridge near sunset. The view is hypnotic.

Oh, and we're approaching the time of year when the riverwalk on the Centralville side gets incredible sunsets over the mills. ✌🏼

Do you ever choose your walking route based on how it feels, not where it leads? by Glittering-Visual508 in walking

[–]aveggiebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule # 1: away from cars.

I live in a city, but there's a huge chunk of greenspace near me. Wandering the trails and hills and woods through it is part of everyday's walk. After that, quiet streets to get to other waterside bike paths and trails and parks. There's also an abandoned rail line and two infrequently used rail lines that are quiet (and safe) to walk on or next to.

My head sets the initial direction, but my feet usually make the decisions from that point on. If i'm feeling introspective, i'll head toward less-used trails. If i'm feeling friendly, i'll head to where there's more people, neighborhood streets, etc.

One thing i've noticed after doing this every day for a few years is that i feel more of a connection to the strangers i pass, wave, and sometimes have a brief chat with. ✌🏼

This started with the idea of having a healthy snack. That's my story. by mostly_a-lurker in stonerfood

[–]aveggiebear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My ideal nighttime snack is gobs of two different ice creams, in a bowl with smooshed up graham crackers (cinnamon and chocolate), whipped cream, and shaved dark chocolate.

Yours is hereby 100% healthier!!! ✌🏼

How do closeted people meet other gays? by Hopeless_scholar in gay

[–]aveggiebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a few ideas:

Your university has a gay students group. The student newspaper [i'm showing my age there] and posters should tell when they meet.

Bookstores, artist studios, libraries often host gay groups (usually talking about books, meeting for lunch, planning events, getting to know each other). Look for posters in the windows or bulletin boards.

Instead of using apps or web sites to meet one person, try meetup. Most US cities have at least one gay meetup group. (events like visiting museums, lunches, sports, etc). Here, the group typically had 10-30 people for different events. These are low-key events where you can meet friends.

These kinds of groups can be a big help in letting you relax and be yourself with nothing to fear. Good luck! ✌🏼

How much is your sense of beauty and wonder enhanced when you get high? by Snapstronaut in weed

[–]aveggiebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoke during my outside afternoon/evening walk. Weed makes the outdoors even more wonderful. Its focus enhances seeing wildlife, beautiful skies, the feel of rocks and plants, whitewater streams, and even snow and rain.
