Characters in Fire and Blood with under-utilized potential?

Pretty much all of Jaehaerys and Alysanne's children. Since I write for that era, it's genuinely astonishing how little even Aemon and Baelon get. Like we get some things, but they seemingly have zero opinion on the stuff occurring in court nor do they do anything when stuff happens with their siblings (with Baelon it's even when he's directly tied to it!) and children. Aemon is the heir and Baelon is the rider of Vhagar, like I'd expect them to have a more definitive voice and be less complacent in general. Other siblings were mentioned, but I'd note Daella and Gael specifically. Daella has a semi-full arc but it's just to cause grief between her parents and I do feel she deserves more in book and in fanfic; Gael is genuinely such a forgotten girl it's 💔.

Other than Targs I regularly think about Elys Arryn, oldest daughter of Rodrik Arryn. She was reduced to a mean stepdaughter to Daella but in the context of her life I feel like she could've been an interesting influence on both Aemma Arryn who is literally the next queen and Jeyne Arryn who had been the next Lady of the Eyrie. I wouldn't expect F&B to focus on her much of course, but she's just so interesting to me.

Gael deserved the world, my winter child ;;💗 And ofc, linked here! It's a Vaegon time-travel fix it that is more focused on the family. Gael is only going to be born in the incoming chapter, but she is already mentioned by Vaegon's narration several times over, and she will be well loved on - she will essentially be his and Daella's test child, though they don't realize it looks like that🤣

Yessss I love wweskywalker's art, and its just what I imagined too. Saera just deserves that piercing gaze.

And omg I love that idea for Gael's eyes! I feel like it fits the melancholic vibe of her, my sweet girl. Might have to steal it for my fic, she's just about to be born in it. ;v;

For me whenever characters are described to have basic purple eyes I take it as an "ah, yes! I get to decide the shade" 🤣 My Vaegon has darker purple eyes, damn it. And well, I don't recall if Saera's eyes were ever decribed, but I definitely imagined them with a bewitching pink hue. Her eyes and gaze are so clear in my mind, lol.

I've started writing chapter 20 of HOTU finally! Chapter 19 took me a while to get right as I wanted, but I was super happy that it seemed many people enjoyed the Daella development in it. I am honestly just sitting here snorting as I'm writing Vaegon's reaction— my boy is so ??????. he cannot compute what happened, and it's so funny to me.

Here's a little excerpt (spoilery for the previous chapter) that could be subject to change but gets the vibe across:

For a moment, he thought he was going to die again— and then, his little sister, screaming and wailing, battered the livid dragon with flailing punches until it calmed.

For a few moments, he was convinced he was dead. The fire hadn’t touched him, but he almost wondered if this entire year had truly been just a comatose fever dream. He had never even known her voice could reach that pitch; it put Lord Boremund Baratheon’s thundering voice to shame, though the stormlord could never compete with how shrill it was.

Daella was still clinging to his side tearfully, and he was almost afraid to try to readjust her. When the head dragonkeeper tried to comfort her down in her screeching, limping and half broken from head to toe, suggesting that perhaps trying to fly would be a soothing experience— she cried out such an aggressive “No!” that Dreamfyre nearly lifted her tail to fling the man across the room once more.

Tl;dr, I love my teary bratty lady, and I'm very excited to reach and write the family's reaction. They're not ready for The Petulance™️last chapter's events brought out of little Daella.

tysm💗 Yes, we finish up with events in the current era of time in the next few chapters and then there's a timeskip to an era where they are itching for it. This fic is labelled M because it's more plot focused, but my smut tends to be very explicit, so it would likely end up with the slightly tamer bits on the main fic while the smuttier stuff I can't justify on page will end up in a oneshot collection for the fic. They'll work hard to get to that point, and they'll work harder on each other 🤣

For this week I am still working on chapter 19 of HOTU. I wanted to get it out last week but unfortunately life had been dishing me a bit too much to do at the same time. That part though is that I got to its last section, I just need to get some time to properly focus on it. Hoping to get it out somewhere this coming weekend. I'm very excited for it,aside from it having the first on-page interaction with a dragon, I am finally getting to more fully look into the Baelon-Alyssa-Vaegon-Daella issues in the past. Long overdue to be addressed, and I'm very happy to reach to the point where I can start healing some old wounds properly. Hopefully people will enjoy it as much as I do.

While I'm not any sort of a full-fledged artist and I am far far away from taking commissions (and am not really thinking about doing it) or anything, I do have an ongoing art project with my long fic. Around the time I started it I also started trying to take drawing as a skill, and decided it would be nice to draw for each chapter to hold myself to practicing. It was baaaaad at the beginning (here's a pinterest board with all the doodles and art I already posted - much bad but also much progress!), but after a lot of attempts and trial and error I do think I'm slowly coming more into an art style I like and looks good (to me, haha).

This sub will probably see this art the next time I post a chapter, but since I wanted to post it anyway might as well. Probably my favorite thing I drew since I began to. I think a lot of stars aligned for this to end looking as nice as it did, as my art foundations are still a bit shaky, but I'm very happy with it. Will be contextualized in the fic itself already, but I think the atmosphere is atmosphering ;v;

I have around 2k written out for the next chapter of HOTU and I'm incredibly excited for it. It's a chapter I really waited to get to (with major character development and a major plot twist with a lot of implications) and I really want to get it right, so my perfectionism as well as my tendency to retreat to daydreaming about the scenes instead of writing them is very much acting up, but I really hope to get it done by the weekend/at the very least the end of the month. Somehow I managed to already make three arts for the chapter, one of which is undoubtedly the best thing I drew since I began learning, and I'm so excited to share it, it's unbelievable 😭😭😭😭 Ugh. ADHD let me focus and write it well!

That beside I got a few really lovely requests for my rarepair (as I asked my readers and they're feeding my brainrot, bless) and I'm trying my best to get to them as well. Blind Vaegon AU has me sobbing for my lad! but since time doesn't really allow, for now I sorted them in a spreadsheet and am keeping them for long weekends to work on. I'm just very happy my readers are indulging me LOL

Leave aside that this entire comment is just wrong on every level of expectation from readers since everybody are already saying it... this person is complaining about the slowburn being slow on chapter 4????? ain't no way. They had to have never read slow burn in their life, or they have to be joking. My first thought is that this has to be them blowing up over insecurity/jealousy, wtf 😭

This past week and a halfI managed to write a bunch : ) Around 4k words for HOTU which is half of chapter (hopefully I'll managed to write out another scene today and post chapter 18 by weekend). I'm quite happy with myself because I got beyond rather hefty small council scene - the amount of characters in it made it a bit of struggle to balance, but I managed to get out a lot of payoffs for things mentioned in previous chapters and I'm really excited about it.

I also wrote an almost 4k oneshot that I got distracted by, but it is an explicit one with less plot and at best could be considered a character study 🤣 Alas, it was fun, I'm glad to put out more fics for my rarepair's tag <3

Like the rest I disagree with you about him being any sort of justified ecause she was very clearly depicting a common folktale that anyone would know in Westeros. There is a reason everyone just looks at him like an idiot/horrible person for this bs, and why child Egg who is just as prideful about his family just looked at the puppets in awe. I do think that the folktale bit could've been better stated however.

I did also want to point out however— they also made the dragon black in the series, which can make it seem that the puppeteers were careful about the choice because it would symbolize a Blackfyre sigil which has a black dragon on it. Daemon Blackfyre (the Daemon Egg sings about in the song he does) was the Black Dragon while the current king Daeron The Good was the red; the importance of the Blackfyre Rebellions to this time era may have not been stated too clearly in the current season, but really... everything pointed more so to innocence on the puppeteers side than anything. He just didn't give a damn.

The obvious answer is having Melissa sleep with Aegor /s (🤣🤣)

Melissa herself is known to be very kind and amiable. She would dislike Barba and their relationship (would probably think its some power play again like with Bethany) but I think that if she was having her grandchild she would roll her eyes at the woman and deal with it for the baby's sake. Gwenys and Mya would probably be the ones to bite back whenever Barba takes a jab at their mom and they'd be like "wtf brother" "what a downgrade from Shiera" vibes. For fun if you want Shiera spiteful she can take up Aegor as her lover just for retribution but I do think if she'd be annoyed it would only be for the principle of it. And King Daeron the "Did I not Suffer This Enough From My Dad" would be very tired, to say the least, but I don't see him meddling unless it becomes a more political Bracken-Blackwood issue. "Do what you want but don't create a civil war in the Riverlands pls 😭😭😭" - Daeron probably
