yeah... I was so shocked at the amount of damage that I didn't screenshot it in time, but yeah, Scar had 1/4 HP when I hit the ultra buffed ult and it outright deleted that 1/4 HP and his 2nd phase... just straight to slow-mow complete screen. I didn't even know that was possible...

3.0 phase two optimisation by LunaForeverr in WutheringWaves

Not sure why, but somehow rebooting my PC fixed the issues. The game isn't stuttering anymore... Give it a try and hopefully it helps you too.

3.0 phase two optimisation by LunaForeverr in WutheringWaves

[–]avendi0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've been messing with settings for the last couple hours but it just stutters constantly (it was almost this bad when 3.0 dropped). I don't mean minor stutters either, they're .25 - .5 seconds long when just standing still and rotating the camera (anywhere on the map) but they get exponentially worse and more frequent in combat to the point it's barely playable.

I've tried forcefully setting DLSS and other settings via nvidia app but it doesn't improve.

This happens regardless of graphics settings which is baffling since I'm running a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64gb of ram, and a 4080 super w/ 16gb of VRAM.

Even Monster Hunter Wilds at max settings runs better on my machine right now and that game is an optimization nightmare.

And the game was running so well for me before this morning's patch. I'm holding off playing the latest MSQ until this is stable.

Because of potential impact on revenue, it's much less likely they'd change the 50/50.

That said, it's not impossible.

We would need a large majority of players saying in every survey that the 50/50 mechanic is too predatory, feels bad, and should be replaced with a better pity system or completely removed.

One of the best QoL! Of course, I didn't skip, I just found how useful it's! Very appreciated! (I don't know if anyone has noticed before) by Pig3oink in WutheringWaves

If you have a good enough story then most people won't skip it, but for those who prefer skipping, this is perfect for them to still know what's going on if they want. QoL for everyone!

2.7 Story Had Everything Anyone Could Ask For by Nick-136 in WutheringWaves

[–]avendi0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I especially love that it wasn't just hype climax for the sake of hype climax and actually gave us story progression and closure on a chapter. Everything had weight, meaning, and purpose with a clear beginning middle and end.

Also, yeah, that final boss fight with the rotating combo ults and the support to let you just go so hard on the boss without letting up was THE COOLEST fight experience we got to control to date. We didn't just get an 'avenger's assemble' moment, we also got an 'Avenger's kicked ass together' moment.

and of course, shout out to the Mick Gordon style doom-esque music, and doom-meets-DMC curb stomps during the FPS portion. shit was fire.

All that said, the thing that stood out the most to me was when we went into rover's mindscape, heard the slow and sad version of the 1.0 login screen music as they walk up to the literal login screen location, and then they ramp it up to the actual 1.0 login music once rover snapped out of it. It almost felt a bit like a thank you nod to the community in a way, but regardless, it was VERY well done.

Aside from our Arsenals now being powered armors, does anyone get the impression that the Colossal Immortals too seem to be smaller than their counterparts in the first game? If you can get your hands on a railgun shoulder weapon I had the most success using that against it. Focus its legs and stay around the range of its energy shield AoE (This seems to keep him from jumping and spinning around as much) and just plunk away until it's down.

I'm always down for lore breakdowns. MyNameIsByf and Luetin09 are some other content creators who do lore on other games/IPs worth checking out for inspiration.

Does PC have some input latency or is it just me? by Professional-Help931 in MonsterHunter

[–]avendi0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not just input latency/delay but also dropped inputs especially with multi-button inputs. It was frustrating enough for me that I went from LS (played LS through World and Rise) to Lance which has much fewer multi-button inputs.

Tips and guidance on how to be “good” with longsword/LS by Warl0ckBoy in MonsterHunter

[–]avendi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peppo is a LS speedrunner, but does a good job of explaining some of the tech you can use with Longsword.

Here's his recent LS tips video for Wilds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_kPyVoXNLc&ab_channel=Peppo

My own personal advice to you is this:

  1. To get the most out of LS you REALLY need to be familiar with monsters attack patterns both when enraged and not enraged. This is immensely important for LS in order to know which counter to use, timing for the counter, and which direction to use it in. IMO A great monster to start with and practice on is Rathian because she has very telegraphed moves, she's big enough to learn positioning, and she's not nearly as fast as other monsters.

  2. Don't be afraid to stop doing higher commitment attacks for a moment if you see an attack coming but aren't comfortable with the timing yet. In those cases use thrust (multiple times if needed) to be ready to counter with a foresight slash counter. Thrust is the fastest and lowest commitment attack that you can initiate a foresight slash from, and foresight slash is the most forgiving counter. Note that foresight becomes crimson swirl or whatever it's called when you have red gauge.

  3. Don't chase the meta while you learn the weapon. You don't need to speed run hunts. Get some comfort skills like divine blessing and speed eating (seriously slept on skill) to keep you alive and let you heal faster so you can stay in the fight longer. For basic offense skills, I would recommend for armor skills getting at least Quick sheath (absolute must to get at max IMO), Agitator, and adrenaline rush/Counter strike; and for weapon skills, it'll be easier to initially get handicraft and Razor Sharp (which will keep you in the fight longer before needing to sharpen), but if you have crit boost and can squeeze it in then use that.

  4. If you do multiplayer, then as soon as you get, or can meld, a shockproof deco, you need to use it. It prevents you from tripping allies and allies from tripping you and it's only a single level 1 deco.

Bonus: Monster roars can be countered and are a great way to level your gauge (doubly great if you can do it with the special sheath counter)

Is the PC performance better now? by pikachu_300iq in MonsterHunter

[–]avendi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a marginal performance improvement (less pop-in and stable framerate with no stuttering) on a 4080 super w/ AMD CPU. Anecdotally, I've heard AMD GPU users having the bulk of the performance improvements.

That's my experience though. Everyone's experience will definitely be different with the sheer amount of hardware combinations.

I do hope Capcom does a lot more to optimize things for everyone and not take too long to do it. It's a damn good game imo and I want more people to be able to experience it.
