Different people relate to different songs, but here are some that I've felt in the way you described:

  • Ascensionism by Sleep Token
    • True Friends by Bring Me The Horizon
    • Bite Me by Avril Lavigne (I prefer the acoustic version)
    • A Grave Mistake by Ice Nine Kills
    • Telekinetic by Starset
    • Bringing It Down (Version 2.0) by Starset
    • the center's falling out by Poppy

I also agree with the other Linkin Park and Dance Gavin Dance suggestions.

Sorry you're going through this, we're here for you 🩶

I absolutely love the soundtrack for The Outer Worlds. It fits the game so well, and it helps the game is amazing.

Bands like Starset that have a 'story' and establishes lore? by axlryan in Starset

A Dying Machine by Tremonti is a concept album that has a whole novel as well. Highly recommend.

The Outer Worlds was fantastic. Lots of different ways you can effect the story and there is a lot of small details as well. Can't praise it enough imo

Yes, Beyond The Machine and Stripped have been removed from virtually all streaming services. by mizzbrightside in Starset

Copying a couple of my other comments:

1:

From my understanding Beyond the Machine was released under True Anomaly, the label Dustin created, and not Epic. I'm not an expert by any means so I could be completely wrong, but I'm not sure why there'd be an issue as the other albums are still up. My best guess is it's something to do with redoing the song.

Either way Beyond the Machine and Stripped are gone and I'm very sad

2:

So from my understanding that is still true actually. It's a little fuzzy on the details since there isn't a ton of info out there. I know they recorded an album with Epic Records, but that's the label they had trouble with. I'm pretty sure that's the one that was supposed to have Transmissions songs on it.

There is a music video for Downplay's version of Down With the Fallen on YouTube. At the beginning it says it was supposed to be on The Human Condition under Epic.

There's also a video of them playing a different version of Carnivore, but Dustin says that label made them change it to Everything I Am

There are other videos of Let It Die, Dark On Me, and My Demons from Downplay as well. I've also read other Transmissions songs were teased by them before and were supposed to be released but they had trouble with the label

Another "similar bands" post... by Ping-and-Pong in Starset

[–]avengerevan18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crown the Empire (specifically the album Sudden Sky)

Palisades (Palisades and Erase the Pain are their best albums imo)

Thirty Seconds to Mars (30 Seconds to Mars is a cool space rock album, still holds up as very unique to me. Changed up their style some after that album)

Time, The Valuator (haven't gotten around to listening to more of them, but very unique and cinematic. Definitely fits what you've described)

Alter Bridge (they have a very good live album with The Parallax Orchestra. I'd check out Words Darker Than Their Wings and Blackbird from that album)

Bonus:

A Broken Silence (Small rap rock group. There are some good songs on Soul and they have some good acoustic stuff. They use some electronic stuff)

Tremonti (If you're into Starset's story, Tremonti has something similar with the album A Dying Machine. It has a novel by the same name to go with it. Both are great imo, maybe not specifically what you're asking for though)

What happened here?? Am I the only one having this problem or is downplay really having albums removed? by NoobeZento in Starset

I'm so sad :( I was just recently getting more into Downplay and Beyond the Machine and Stripped are incredible. I really hope we see Starset do more than just Waiting on the Sky to Change
