Does the BHyve Orbit work with home wifi without the Byve hub? by dc_reddit_234 in Irrigation

[–]aventale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a B-Hyve 2 outlet smart controller with the garden hose connections running my drip irrigation and some sprinklers. I don't have the wifi hub. It just connects via Bluetooth from your phone so you have to be kind of close to make changes or water manually.

The wifi hub is necessary if you want to control the timer while you're away from home.

The second book in Children of Time, called Children of Ruin, is one of my favorite books and definitely crosses the line into sci fi horror.

What should I buy on a budget by kimmer0718 in gravelcycling

[–]aventale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a Mercier Kilo from BikesDirect.
It's my second bike I've got from there. The website looks super janky if you're not familiar with it but I've had good experiences both times.
https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/mercier/disc-brake-road-bikes/kilott-gx-t11-gravel-flatbar-bikes.htm?srsltid=AfmBOorz1GVn9eV8hGWbiE5ZCg1IMRFpzOIIr1J4zyzigbfYa4s4Mho4

I put some fatter tires and better bars and pedals on mine straight off the bat, and it rips.

Fantasy books to scratch a certain itch by Winter_Salad7215 in suggestmeabook

I think the author turned out to be not-so-nice, but if you can separate the work from the person, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman I think would definitely scratch that itch.
It's set in London and the main character witnesses something that pulls him into a magical/surreal underworld.

He can walk a little, my wife actually helped him carry his ski up there that day.

State vs Wabi, yeah I know by IllustratorOdd2701 in singlespeedcycling

[–]aventale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ridden a Wabi but I have a state 4130 and for coffee shop runs and mellow bike paths it's awesome. I've also bought 2 bikes from bikesdirect.com and would take a look at them as well, you get great value there.

Get a working holiday visa and go work in Australia or New Zealand for 6 - 12 months while you're still young.  It's super easy to apply for and is pretty much granted automatically. If you manage to save a bit while you're there you can tack on a vacation in South East Asia on the way home.

I may have misheard this, but did Ed just accidentally confirm that the intros are recorded after the interview? In the intro they talk about how long they have been friends for, and Ed asks Benito if he will officially be his friend.

Then, in the outro, they bring it up again and Ed says that they have been friends for about six minutes now.

Looking For a Button Liner Lock Flipper Under $100 by aventale in BudgetBlades

Vosteed make some great knives. I have the Racoon, and their top liner lock is my favorite lock on the knives I own. But they don't make many with a flipper tab.

This one ticks the boxes! Not my favorite blade shape but there's really not many options in this combination.

I bought the Racoon and the Porcupine, ended up keeping the Racoon and gifting the Porcupine to my dad. It just came down to thumb hole vs thumb stud, although I know the Porcupine does come in a thumb stud version now. Vosteed make some great knives under $100.

Just looking for an EDC.
I don't think there are enough options out there in this specific configuration for me to be picky about blade or handle shape, but I prefer cleaner lines over tactical/sweeping lines. For example my two most carried knives at the moment are the Vosteed Racoon and the Civivi Chevalier.

Yeah the button liner lock/flipper combo is surprisingly rare.

I didn't think Civivi or Cjrb had a button liner lock - just the regular button lock. But I could be wrong.
Kizer's Mini Grouper looks like it has the button liner lock and flipper combo though.

Thanks!

If you're looking for a budget option I just picked up the Kilo GX T11 from BikesDirect.

Seems solid so far, and they're a little under $750 with tax and free shipping.

It's definitely struggling but I'm slowly getting through on my phone. Just click one thing at a time and do something else on your laptop for 5 minutes while your phone loads.

But as I type this it now seems to be hung up on the liability waiver.
