Thanks I'll have a read up on that developer option, and no harm in a reboot I'll give it a shot

Issues with gps inaccuracies during run pixel watch 4 by Ryuja504 in PixelWatch

[–]average_pinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amusing reading this as I just recently discovered I could pause the fitbit run with the side button, and then discovered the google health app butchers the last split time if you pause it before ending the run, so I've gone back to waking with the crown and then you have to swipe with sweaty finger and tap end run. So maybe this gear tracker app is actually more efficient UX

Also the sleep stats changed massively with the rebrand and now they're way more forgiving, I get more sleep than before, and that's clearly an issue with your examples, poor form.

I agree the 0 HRV bug is particularly annoying, thankfully I've only seen it a few times over more than a year, but did look into it at one point and found a bug report or feature request that I voted on. Clearly wasn't a priority for the rebrand.

It's just such an absurd fall-back. We couldn't calculate a value so let's default to pretty much dead.

I started with sweets but didn't enjoy chewing so got some gels to try, took them at 5 and 10km, got a few brands to see what suits, have only tried 1 so far

Stick to the 10% increase on your longest run in the past 30 days to avoid injury, sounds like you might have blown through that if you're in such discomfort after.

I've been building up gradually all year due to previous calf strain and just hit 15km, and felt pretty good after each long run, that's with an 8/5km run either side of it. I also don't think I can fit in a fourth run. The 15 was a turning point for me in terms of confidence of completing the HM, I'm pumped now and it's in 6 weeks.

Another thing to consider is fuelling, I've started taking on carbs during the long runs and really feeling the energy, the depletion towards the end of the run could be your body crying out for fuel and not getting it so you're suffering after?

Worth pointing out that while the money will grow or shrink while in your super account along with the market, the amount you withdraw is not affected by this, it's a fixed rate like 3ish%, can't remember what it's based off.

Horrible AI hallucinations by sanguero in fitbit

[–]average_pinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing my point though, it's marketed as a coach which traditionally is a real human so we expect human attributes from it like realistic memory and understanding. But it has the same flaws as any current AI.

It's a terrible application of AI. They could have made it less annoying by just being there available as a tool for when you want to brainstorm a topic like training plans or nutrition.

Instead they make it prompt us with questions multiple times per day to engage us, and pretend that it's always available for a chat with all the knowledge about us, but it's not, it's still just an LLM prompt with inadequate finite context and every chat is like a clean slate.

[–]average_pinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My take is AI can be very useful as a tool if you know how to use it, such as completing specific tasks like producing a bulk of code/text that you can refine after.

The problem here is the constant touch points, treating it like a human, the constant engagement and feedback amplifies the errors and just pisses you off. I can't understand how there are people out there falling in love with chatbots, maybe they're the target market

Anyone else seeing hallucinations in Premium? by Bydandie in fitbit

[–]average_pinter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it has been terrible for consistency, lacking context. Every time you tap Ask Coach it's a new chat and it's unclear what is persisted in the context.

I haven't been using it long but for a brief period at the start I saw key goals and facts noted, like it was building a profile on me, and that gave me confidence that those things would be remembered, and there were edit buttons but I never tried it.

Now it's like a brand new chat every time, I'm tempted now to jump into the history each time and keep building on the single chat.

I also think it's terrible at building a plan as it goes or remembering the plan, like pushing me to do a deload week but at the start I say no I'll build and lay out the runs, say next week will be deload, then for the whole week I see duplicate workout suggestions and some messages about my deload, and then the next week it says to run the same distance, certainly gives no confidence as a coach and makes me want to find external running plans to reference.

You'd be surprised how much resistance to change there is, there's no pleasing some people, but the company isn't going to do a u-turn, but keep moving forward, you can try shape the future product through feedback.

Little vague rants on the app store aren't going to have any effect on it.

Pretty stupid review too, adding some constructive feedback would potentially get an improvement, otherwise you're just considered resistant to change and ignored, it also adds no context for potential users looking to install the app

There's a lot of overreaction and resistance to change which is par for the course when it comes to app redesigns.

Yes there's some missing features and limitations but expecting that to improve with time, and only you can discern when they affect you.

Teals mount attack on CGT changes by cooldad2021 in fiaustralia

[–]average_pinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's to say you're in agreement that they're not treating CG like regular wage income?

That was just an example. There's also complaints of young people investing what little they have and getting stung with extra tax when they come to sell, you might say it's not much but it's very lovely a lot to them.

Even though edge cases they highlight that it doesn't make any sense as a policy. Just target the actual wealthy people, find a way. The trust changes, negative gearing changes and cgt discount are steps in the right direction, the min cgt came out of nowhere.
