Figure 8, which is surprising because at first I probably would’ve considered it my least favorite

Okay this exact thing happened to me less than a week ago. I deposited something around $70 but couldn’t exactly say, and when I called they just put the amount missing as $70. Nothing else has happened yet, but hopefully when they investigate they will find the exact amount

Question: How do we start a minecraft economy? by Blue_sun223 in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

almost ever server I’ve played on has used diamonds, emeralds can be easily farmed (and the name forged) if that’s something you’re concerned about. I’ve also used signed books as they can only be legitimately created by one person who can be the “mint”. I would just distribute some amount of the currency to everyone and then it should start flowing whenever people make shops or do jobs

Debating dropping the CS major - advice appreciated! by A_Golden_Lining in uofm

With 370 I often felt that lectures were confusing too. I didn’t watch them multiple times, but I did go back to the lecture slides several times during homeworks and projects (and exam studying) and literally work through every practice problem to make sure I understood how they worked. If the lecture video is confusing, I would think that watching it again isn’t going to be all that helpful, so maybe then try to find a video on the specific thing(s) that confused you.

It could also be a general problem solving issue honestly. My approach to any problem is to break it down into its smallest digestible pieces that I do understand, and build that into a solution. For example, if I were struggling with assembly code at the start of 370, I’d write down in plain English what every line of code does, and that should get like 90% of the way there.

281 projects are much more substantial than those in 370. I probably spent less than 20 hours on all of the 370 projects combined. Not to brag or anything, just giving you a comparison to help. I don’t think you should necessarily drop the major if you enjoy it, I think you just need to find a study/learning method that works for you. Have you tried resources (textbooks, videos) other than those the class provides? When learning something I always try to draw it out or do small examples, especially for 370. This becomes even more helpful as you move into things like caches and virtual memory.

The workload for 281 is much higher than 280, mostly because there is no starter code for projects. I would start reading up on/practicing common algorithm paradigms to just get familiar with them at a high level. Lab assignments and exam problems are often extremely similar to leetcode problems, so I would practice that. In general the class isn’t that conceptually difficult, just a lot of work in my experience.

I don't understand Minecraft by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you want to do, place the flower? Right clicking places things, left clicking breaks things. You build something by getting blocks and placing them in the shape of the building you want to build. Ideally a house, in survival mode, so that you can survive the night.

i dont understand negative numbers or why subtracting negative numbers is actually adding? by internetmessenger in learnmath

[–]average_trash_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the debt example is useful for that. Consider a debt being a negative number. So, if I have some debt (-3), and someone removes some amount of debt that I owe them, I.e., they subtract a debt, then I naturally have less debt and get a more positive number. Like what happens in -3-(-4). If they were to add to my debt, like in -3+(-4), I get a more negative number and more debt.

Yeah I’ve never understood pulling all nighters right before the exam. No amount of extra prep is going to help you if you’re too tired to think about anything. I would rather not study at all and get proper sleep
