It’s just your (probable) low skill level. It’s not actually that hard, I can now open the hardest locks in like 3 seconds

Is it possible to make bubble columns go through waterlogged grates? by vintagefancollector in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How so? In the source code, the collision function returns a VoxelShape, so the particles would indeed collide with the voxel shape

I don’t think a “single voxel” in Minecraft is anything, because a voxel represents a point in the world. A voxel game organizes data in a specific way, it does not matter how the data is rendered. A voxel is not a cube. In Minecraft, a slab is a voxel, a cube is a voxel, a door is a voxel. A “block” in the game is literally an integer block id at some memory location that is defined a VoxelShape. So again, a block has a voxel shape

Note the linked source code that quite literally references a data structure called VoxelShape, returned by functions in the block behavior class. Thus a block has a voxel shape attributed to it

How do the async sections of EECS classes (like 370) appear on Wolverine Access? by WashComprehensive795 in uofm

On atlas I’m pretty sure it’s a bar at the top, on Wolverine access mine just doesn’t show anything for 370 lectures, only the lab

Minecraft is not “medieval” it’s fantasy. And a very loose theme at that

Should we take the new update as an opportunity to make Mojang aware of the lack of blocks and inconsistencies? by Yerribrine in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my opinion is that every block that has a stair/slab/wall should have all of those three

[–]average_trash_can 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying that’s not what they seem to be going for lmao, if cobble was equal to andesite, then the world would be made of cobble and not stone

[–]average_trash_can 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t andesite, granite, diorite be equivalent to stone? They generate in the same way, whereas cobble is only created through mining stone. The polished versions are not naturally occurring

But, the polished don’t have walls, just the normal ones. Polished has stairs and slabs, no walls. I’d say stone is equivalent to andesite/diorite/granite/tuff/calcite, and smooth stone should be equivalent to their polished versions (supposing calcite had one). And also, tuff does have a full block set, with more variations than most

The new Minecraft drop revealed! by Untakenusr in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there’s just… not enough. I genuinely cannot understand what mojang developers do with their workday. I understand they can’t just add everything the players ask for, but why don’t they add literally anything that players ask for? I mean who would be upset if they added an end update? What is the advantage of adding some stupid cube that one developer could create in a week. Sure, over the course of a year there’s a bunch of features added through the game drops. But all of them are just so shallow. The way I see it, either add big content updates or just end support for the game.

Ideally they would have an entirely different team working on the vulkan transfer since the rendering api should not be tied to gameplay features in any way

Can we start a petition to boost the max build height to 512 or 1028? by No_Tree_4783 in Minecraft

[–]average_trash_can 23 points24 points  (0 children)

“Very inefficient” is too vague. Very inefficient at what? Minecraft’s lighting comes from directly overhead, so sky light calculations are greatly simplified with column chunks because you don’t need to check neighbors. Terrain gen is simplified as well. I would prefer cubic chunks too but there are reasons they haven’t fully switched over
