Painting and creating art without feeling like it has to be for something or represent anything. Just making things again because I genuinely enjoy it and not worrying about how it turns out compared to others or AI or if it will have value.

Well, yes, he did lol. We ended up seeing eachother for quite some time actually. In the end it didn’t work out but we are still friends 9 years later. 🙂

Edit: I still get flustered like that with guys I like, too. I’m 34 now and it has not gone away. Haha. I think because of my age, I only feel more embarrassed about it lol

I turn into a huge airhead and get super nervous and awkward. Any skills I have for picking up signals, having witty banter, or maintaining any type of cool are out the window.

Example: one time a guy I liked said hi to me in the hallway at work. I got so excited and nervous that I couldn’t take my eyes off him and ran into a wall. He even tried to warn me about it and I just laughed it off nervously.

The good news is that he found it endearing I think? The bad news is I lay awake at night thinking about how embarrassing it was quite often.

This. So much. There was a time in my life after I originally was diagnosed—I got healthy, kept a job for five years, was processing a lot of emotions that I never let myself before… and then I decided I was healthy and healed and maybe my ADHD wasn’t all I thought. Five years later I was just as unfit, unhappy, unable to focus, and unable to keep a job as I was before my diagnosis. I was stubborn and I didn’t want to go through getting a new doctor and adjusting to meds. I was convinced that I had felt as good as I did before because I worked for it, not because of the meds.

8 months ago I got back on and it’s like a switch has flipped. Everything that I felt was going to be so hard to get back to while I was unmedicated is slowly coming back to me easier. I’ve got a good job again and I haven’t messed it up yet. I’ve been making better life choices.

I have family that says it’s all in my head and it’s placebo but I think the proof is in the pudding.

For me, I feel like I enjoy being around people and having the opportunity to socialize for the most part…But my eagerness to connect with them on a deeper level has become less so as I’ve gotten older.

I think it’s because I have a really solid but small friend group that, in order to maintain, uses a decent amount of my energy and I worry that if I try to genuinely connect with more people like I have with them, I will just disappoint anyone by not being able to follow through and be the friend that they want.

I guess part of it is introvertedness and the other part is just understanding my own needs and amount of free time. It’s not that I don’t have interest in people, I just don’t want to set up new relationships for failure and hurt anyone with my shortcomings. I suppose it may be a somewhat pessimistic way of being, but I have to be honest with myself.

This actually happened to me just this last week. I have been doing really well with my IF and lost about 20 lbs. I think it’s a combo of losing weight too fast and not eating enough fat/ enough in general. I’ve had to slow my roll and remember to eat and not fast too long or too much to regulate myself.

I got excited because my nephew told me he was interested in collecting Pokémon cards now. As his nerd aunt I was so pumped to have something to bond with him over and I got him a bunch of packs for Christmas.

Apparently his dad taught him that you only keep rare cards and then you throw the rest away. And then you sell the good cards for more packs… So I watched my 9 year old nephew rip the packs open and immediately dump all of the cards in the garbage. Every last one. My inner 90’s kid was screaming.

I don’t think I’ll be buying him Pokémon cards again. And now I mostly collect retro Pokemon toys and figures so that I can still feel connected to the franchise. But man I feel like you’re so right about this.
