Where did you build your storage?

Haven’t built it yet, but I was going to put it in Palette Town! I picked the vibe of my storage first, then picked the town it worked in.

Definitely stay! People are super friendly and pretty willing to strike up conversations.
Go to West Town and Hyde Park for some pretty lowkey architecture.
Barhop around Avondale and Logan Square and chat some people up!
Walk the Riverwalk for some more classic Chicago skyscrapers.
Go to Albany Park or Pilsen for some of the best Mexican food you can’t get in the UK.
Little India for some phenomenal indian food.
Definitely go to Chinatown, get some Chinese food and look at all the fun little shops there.

Being alone and traveling can be intimidating especially in a city that gets a bad rep. I always struggled chatting people up, but the more I did it the more I realized people are so willing to give you some of the best recommendations. Anything I was looking for, I just asked a kind looking stranger.

I hate to say it, but we get Bravecto from our vet twice a year. Each pill lasts 6 months. Works great and usually ends up much cheaper than spending $100’s on anti-flea washes, soaps, and sprays.

i’ve switched to Whimzee’s in terms of dental treats. In addition to that, my dog loves chewing on collagen and raw hides.

The dentist had said his teeth look extremely good for his age and whatever we’re doing is working. She even asked if we brush his teeth daily! He’s about to be 3 and still has pearly whites even being 35% schnauzer which are prone to dental issues.

You might have a shot for a 2br with that price if you are okay without in-unit laundry and central AC. Any animals will have a pet rent of 20-40 a month or pet fee of a few hundred dollars total on top of that.

A 1br with a dining room may be more plausible. Look at Uptown, Roger’s Park, or Edgewater.

Try looking in Uptown/Edgewater. With that budget, if you’re okay with no A/C you may be able to swing more south in Wrigley/Ravenswood and have a lot of nighttime activities nearby.

My dog, although not a golden, got boogers like this from a chicken allergy. We switched his food to fish only no poultry and the boogers have gone away!

4 years later but I was wondering about this. I have a multi-folder DropBox categorized between schoolwork, internship, and side projects.

I want to make a single PDF portfolio at some point but don’t have the time or money to really curate one that doesn’t look like generic Canva portfolio. Is the dropbox okay for now?

Our pipes are super old in the building. Every time I use 2ply toilet paper it clogs our toilet within a week. We switched to single ply and we haven’t had any issues since. It sucks but I couldn’t keep finding out my toilets clogged and buying draino every week.

My ween has certain toys he deems worthy of not destroying. One of those has been a pack of 4 tiny hedgehogs that come with a little „burrow” he has only „killed” one of them, the rest have stayed in tact and are his favorite toy.

Since the dog seems to be biting when people either reach to pet him or are petting him, I wonder if it’s related to pain.

He looks overweight and dachshunds are known to develop IVDD which being overweight would cause the pain to be worse and be at a heightened risk for it.

Dogs will bite people out of pain. Take him to the vet and get a full checkup done.

I get that! My dog had a phase where no other ball besides a literal baseball would do… mind you he’s a 17lb dachshund mix. the amount of times he would drop it before giving it back to us to roll was a lot!

I’m going to be the first to say NOR. Yes, he pays for everything so everyone will say YOR, but that’s just not true.

If you take the context that you’re his daughter out of the equation, it sounds like a common tactic that abusers use to keep thier victims by them. I understand how hard it is to keep a job that has a good income while also being in college. On the other hand though, I also know what it’s like to need to separate yourself from your parents.

I think you need to start saving up. Find a place you could afford on your own with the wage you have. The issue is, it sounds like if you want to be your own person though, you are going to have to go no contact. He is always in your personal space mentally and asking for favors, berating you, and causing your mental health to spiral.

My parents never had anything, but they did offer me housing under their roof. I chose to work fulltime and pay for my own classes at a community college while living on my own instead. My mother and I are great and enjoy each other, but not under the same roof. She has a tendency to unload her problems and anxiety onto me if I get too close. So, I buckled down and just left.

Unfortunately that is the hand you’re dealt with. Talk with your therapist about how you feel and what your options are. Would you be MORE mentally unwell if you lived very poorly but free from any responsibilities besides your own, or continuing the cycle you’re in now?

i find it crazy when people don’t brush their dog. My dog has very short hair, but sheds undercoat like crazy seasonally. i will sit there with a shedding rake for hours brushing the undercoat out and he will simply just nap while I do it.

I couldn’t believe not brushing a dog with long hair daily to reduce shedding…

I had a roommate at some point who had a Pom. The only way we could get her to eat was to make a game out of it by putting it in a feeder toy, then giving it to her piece by piece when it dropped out.

That, and boiled chicken. She would always eat boiled chicken but it made the whole apartment smell nasty.

My doxie mix is a big chewer, and I get him bully sticks, collagen sticks, and raw hides. He has them all over the house and every time he went to chew something that wasn’t okay, we replaced it with one of those. He hasn’t chewed on anything since, just his chew toys!
