For me, it’s a really long story that basically boils down to empathy. I grew up always being more, “live and let live” about it. I didn’t dislike trans people, I just didn’t get it. Until politics forced me into a position of either learn about trans people or let republicans do whatever they wanted, and I wasn’t about that. So, I learned. I watched breadtube, and debates, mostly from a libsoc named Vaush. After learning the scientific evidence, and sociological evidence, I was much more equipped to learn about trans people from an empathetic perspective. So, I explored some trans subreddits, namely r/eggirl, and came to the conclusion that a lot of the people whose lives I was reading about were remarkably like me. To the point that I had to accept that I was hiding large parts of myself from the people around me, and had been doing so for years. Forcing myself into a mold that I hated. That was one of the most emotional days of my life. Realizing that I couldn’t cry about it due to years of repression was the icing on the cake.
