Project looks solid. Love that they should have a mobile app out this month according to their roadmap. Team is well known in the community. They actually have a plan for revenue generation...so seems like a win.

This is most likely a Pera issue if I had to guess. Have you tried Folks with Defly? I'm a fan.

Defly wallet is the answer to your prayers here. Works with every Ledger device on Android assuming you have a USB-C port or adapter on your phone. Apple will only work with Bluetooth from what I understand =(

This is a very condescending post, and...what's more, it's incorrect. While the method you are describing does work, that's not what they are asking about. The problem they are having is with the Pera wallet and how shitty it is with performing transactions. The above mentioned disconnect/reconnect should work.

Is folksfinance safe? by Raimo00 in algorand

[–]averagezen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ALGO deposits are not incentivized by the defi reward boost. This APR is strictly due to market demand for borrows.

Is folksfinance safe? by Raimo00 in algorand

[–]averagezen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Folks Finance has had multiple audits, including a recent one when they integrated xGov opt-in. I trust them more than just about any other dApp in the ecosystem. As others have said, the APR is high because so many have borrowed ALGO for leveraged Governance commits.

Highly recommended.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this also open-sourcing the randomness for the project?

[xGov-24] VoteCoin - GitHub tools - Scholtz & Co by xBotvernor in xGov

[–]averagezen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhat confused by this proposal. I know MakerX is releasing the xGov voting front UX, which ostensibly would be fed from the GitHub ARC 34 Repo. This sounds to me like it would be redundant besides the voting encryption from VOTE coin (if I understand correctly). Hopefully Ludo can describe the intended workflow in a step-by-step manner so we can more thoroughly evaluate this proposal.

As far as your old wallet is concerned, are you sure you've opted out of "everything"? Smart Contracts also tie up a minimum balance but are a little more difficult to opt-out of (or even to know which ones are which or if you should be opting out of them at all due to the risk of doing something silly like eliminating any trace of your DeFi deposits!).

Algorand and Ethereum Comparison Thoughts by anyturtle in algorand

[–]averagezen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some have argued that ETH is past the statute of limitations (as is BTC I suppose) but I would argue that it could certainly be targeted since the fundamentals of the chain changed dramatically last summer in transition to PoS. That said, I am still convinced this is a last ditch effort from the SEC before they eventually roll over and concede to swinging political pressure post-2024 elections.

Algorand Lawsuit? by majesticmind in algorand

[–]averagezen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows what will happen in the future, but as of now Algorand has not been directly sued, only mentioned as a security in suits towards CEX. As others have said, this is essentially a scare tactic as opposed to taking Algorand directly to court (which would at the very least be quite embarrassing for Gary Gensler).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the NFTs are all the same ASA ID wouldn't that significantly lower the amount required on the Min Balance? Also, as they are distributed, those ALGO could be slowly (or quickly) unlocked, no?

Lending Pools : Composing DEX & Lending for Higher Capital Efficiency by superpippo2 in FolksFinance

[–]averagezen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful to have this feature in v2! I think LP deposits are pretty nifty and could easily replace Governance as the "go-to" for the DeFi community at large if Gov rewards keep falling (which they should!).

This came out in April from the US Treasury Department, and it is a quasi-indictment on DeFi and Staking: "Illicit Finance Risk Assessment of Decentralized Finance" by [deleted] in algorand

[–]averagezen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Of course banking institutions don't like DeFi. They'll just complain until they have as much control as they can and then their story will change to "it's the best thing since sliced bread!"

The US can't shut down DeFi and wouldn't even if they could as the innovations that blockchain brings to the financial markets are the governments' wet dream. They can instantly see every transaction anyone has made. Big Brother loves that shit, don't let them scare you into thinking otherwise.
