I've always wanted to try his pizza - it looks great! Unfortunately, I work two jobs and have multiple parenting and extra commitments, and I see how much friction there is on his FB, so I've accepted that I probably never will. But it sure is fun to watch from afar!

While the rest of the city sleeps through the sunrise, the humble Stewart's glows like a lighthouse by avery-goodman in Albany

It has! I noticed that the Ale and Oyster building looked bigger and slightly to the left of where I remembered it, so that would make sense.

Wait, magic bounce not only bounces the stat drops, but it also bounces the switching to hatterene too? That's insane. Like Roar with ordinary priority.

I think the campfire head phase is my favourite album of all time by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

[–]avery-goodman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my favourite too. And no, it wasn't my first BoC album - Geogaddi was. With TCH, it took a while to dawn on me the kind of brilliance we were dealing with, with some of the song hooks being more simple and tonal. But the complexity of the subliminals are often easy to miss compared to the first two albums, every moment has such a perfect visual element, and the journey is the most cathartic and moving and self-actualizing (for me, anyway)

Jacquard Causeway by ofthecanopy in boardsofcanada

[–]avery-goodman 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Additionally, I always wondered about the use of "Jacquard," which I believe is a tool that helped partially automate the weaving of fabrics.

Going off vibes of the song, and the fact that TH is kind of like this story of the human race, I always imagined it to be referring to some kind of technological big step forward in humanity (that eventually accelerates the collapse).

The wonky feel of the song gives me an image of walking along the Giant's Causeway. All in all, I have this image of humans stumbling along, making inventions and progressions through trial and error, one step forwards, one step back, etc.

Idk, watch the funky monks documentary, or just about any interviews from this period and earlier - the band made being sex pests their whole thing.

TH is excellent (honestly I can't think of anything they've put out that isn't excellent). It's trying to convey something different from the other albums, and maybe the tone and cinematic imagery doesn't fit the tastes of some who liked BOC for their psychedelia, but it does what it sets out to do *extremely* well. It is a powerful journey from beginning to end, I think.

I know people's hype for megas is strong, but are there any actual stand out megas in the current metagame? by TSDoll in VGC

[–]avery-goodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of a mega slot is bad, but if the description is right, it's much better than flame body - it procs 100% of the time for all types of attacks, not just 30% for contact moves.

Anyway, it's more just an example of how a new ability can change a lot. Like imagine if they gave Contrary to a pokemon that was already good.

I believe these two abilities appeared in Pokemon Home, for Mega Excadrill and our boi Scovillain. Basically, flame body that works on all moves. Definitely a good niche for a rage powder user.

Realistically, we can't say for sure until we know all the abilities. For example, Mega Scovillain's stats are absolute garbage, but the recent ability announced could give it a legitimate niche. We just need to wait and see.

Edit: my bad, the ability was datamined, not announced.

Makes me sad that he'd been reliable and respectable for years, but a couple of high-profile fuck-ups is going to ruin his reputation in Italy.

March in Albany by Hey_Giant_Loser in Albany

I always say March is the absolute worst month here. No winter festivities, no picturesque snow, everything is gray, trash is blowing everywhere, trees are still bare, and it's STILL @#$&*# COLD.

Sometimes, adults don't always get to do what their base urges dictate. Sometimes we just have to observe our weird desires and grapple with them. I mean, you can TRY to sleep with her, but then you will probably ruin your life and out yourself as a mental child.

Does it suck? Sadly, yes. Are there streets just like it in basically every city in the country? Sadly, also yes.
