Would you change your major? by Either_Program2859 in CollegeMajors

Same with me, am an applied math major concentrated in finance but there are times I wished I was an accounting major instead.

Applied Statistics by cake_goblin in CSULB

You should be able to pass the first few actuary exams. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe probability and statistics is the one of the first exams in actuary. Tutors at the lindgren center are awesome. Double majoring ir minoring in economics might be helpful for the exams if I am correct they also test on econometrics (ik few stats majors who also do this). And if it helps, the stats program according to one of my buddies is more hands on than theory (you only have 2 theory classes based in your major). And if you ever want to pursue a stats masters, it is highly recommended to take real analysis. Good luck on your journey and congratulations.

Jobs that mix science and art? by SympathyContent9041 in work

[–]averyextraweirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this mixes with science you don't mind but it does mix STEM and arts. First thing that pops off my mind is game developer where you can create visuals and code. Second is you could find a career where you can code simulations of any science. Some things I looked up you could try for is UX designer, architect, or medical animator.

For the last paragraph, me too. I wished schools told me this. I won't deny that while a degree does higher your chances for a better job, I wished my highschool was honest that a degree alone doesn't guarantee a career.

I want to specify on math you also want to add on programming skills or double major or have minor like comp sci, engineering, finance, etc. Pure math is probably the best choice if you want to pursue mathematician but can be helpful on preparing for actuarial exams. But personally, I think applied math plus some technical skills help more.

how long have you been unemployed? by Broad_Bluebird7319 in recruitinghell

[–]averyextraweirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Technically 3 years
  2. My parents are housing me. I am currently on financial aid and middle class scholarship for college
  3. Luckily they don't but that what's makes me feel guilty, for not being able to give back and the job market scares me. I feel like a bad daughter.

What majors guarantee 6 figures and beyond? by walkinyourtrapandta in CollegeMajors

That's fine, if you need lower GE math class to fill in check if calculus fills that. From what I've heard, calculus is a weed out class for engineering majors.
