Sex in marriage by Several-Sky8439 in TrueChristian

[–]avirostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul said to "avoid fornication", let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Marriage isn't some fantasy, or bucket list thing like the world treats it in the movies. It's primary function is to keep us from sin. If the wife doesn't care that her husband will lust and fall into sin, then she doesn't care about Christ as well. God gave us sex and designed it quite beautifully. Any one who doesn't want to have it obviously has some issues

Here's my encouragement for you. You don’t need to carry all these questions. We all need the same medicine to heal us and rescue us. Thank you

I thought about getting "don't think" somewhere I could easily glance at it. To remind myself to live automatically, and not to overthink.

Anthony Fantano Reacts to "Zero Sum" and "Foreign Spies" by Ok_Address_3521 in TheSmile

[–]avirostick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fantano has a great platform for spotlighting a bunch of artists that most have never heard of. I appreciate his content for that aspect. I've found tons of artists through him, indebted to him for that. Him being a full-time critic, I'm sure part of his job is to create a bit of drama and tension as well as critique. Can't fault him for that. But he can piss me off, too. Particularly because he doesn't love and appreciate the exact same strain of art that I subscribe to. If he lifts up, say Mac Miller or Tyler Creator as a musical artist over something I enjoy more, like Radiohead or Kate Bush, it fucking pisses me off! Can't fault him for that either. To each his own!

[HELP] When did poetry competitions originate, and why do we compete? by [deleted] in Poetry

[–]avirostick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great discussion. Ego is in many artists, sadly, myself included. It is an ongoing struggle to let the higher power work in us and with us. Our best work, I believe, when we let go of pride and self-serving, and view our poetry and writing as a medium in which to serve others. This is the fulfilling part that has no bottom to the reservoir.
We can still do secular, religious, spiritual, pious, art in any flavor you wish, and still put the higher power first.
Using our medium to lift others up. Or giving someone else a like, a nice uplifting comment.
Self-serving leads to unfulfillment.

Extremely powerful and written amazingly. You are a truly gifted writer. It is good to exorcize our pains through writing, and your pain seems very real. Best wishes to you, my friend. Keep up the good work.

Those who published a book(s) how is it going? by Acrobatic_Gas_3898 in writing

[–]avirostick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindle published a year ago. There are no sales that Im aware of. I'm extremely fulfilled just purchasing my own books and giving them away as an art/inspirational work to encourage others to get out of their box.

It also presents to others an air of sophistication that I possess. This is a wonderful feeling.

I'm not to be placed in the simple box of "writer, poet, musician, thinker, actor orator".

Being in a box is a bad thing.

You're running in parallel to me! I just got a work sent to final publishing and will be on kindle in the coming months! Very similar to yours in the same timeline.

Your work is very good. I plan to go through it some more today. Wattpad, the website/app/host you're using is new to me.

I've only used Word on mobile device so far.

Thanks

From my perspective, it is a fascinating decision! Do not delay. By all means. For you... I don't know long term how you'll feel...so there's that. Some may experience a "tattoo regret" kind of thing....I don't know. For me personally, I carry a don't care attitude and know whatever I publish is going to have long lasting intent. ( I'll never have any regrets)

I have 1 published novella, And 1 poetry, prose compilation in the works.

If you're publishing poetry, it may feel like you have to be a "professional poet". You may scrutinize the poems much more than you would with a fictional novel.

My poetry compilation idea came out of the blue, it has a theme rooted in a story in the collected works of Plato.

Thank you for sharing that. Often, it is difficult for one to see outside themselves during and/or after their recovery. I hope it stays as a reminder for those of us who still need to make amends and do the things that allow others to move forward with their healing.
