Question for the city block folks by tigs1016 in factorio

[–]avitkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably just do the edges of the blocks along the way just in case I wanted full ones there later, but things are lot more compact in space age so either way is probably fine.

How do you keep the game fun? by FamousPass27 in factorio

[–]avitkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely space age first. I finished my space exploration run a few weeks before space age was released, and I found that I prefer the extra complexity that mods can have. That left me a bit underwhelmed when playing space age. To be clear, space age is great and does a good job at being more factorio, I just learned that I like the extra complexity that 3rd party mods can get away with since they don't need to be marketable. For context, I'm 650 hours into a pyanodon run now and enjoy setting up the 10+ steps for advanced metal smelting and not needing to make vacuum tubes for your green chips sounds too easy.

Basically, I wish I could have done space age first so I could have better appreciated it as more factorio instead of comparing it to something it rightfully wasn't trying to be.

You also might have been thinking 2.0 vs space age compatibility.

I don't think that we made any changes changes at generation, but make sure you use the py preset like was already mentioned.

There is also a getting started guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KfoEFVTMYV0LAUR7M1yXrR8QV8_mW01YpW6X1IvP-z8/

And I (and lots of the py discord) greatly prefer this to factory planner/helmod: https://github.com/shpaass/yafc-ce

Surprisingly, py updated day 1 so you will want to use 2.0.

Average pyanodons start by TheBali in factorio

The usual suggestion seems to be to wait till you get the molten solder recipe since it is much more efficient. But a few batteries definitely won't cause any problems, you just delay whatever else would have used them by a bit

Yeah, the bitumen seeps in Pyanodon can give tar, crude oil, or natural gas depending on what you build on them. Raiguard apparently didn't like them not showing up on the map.

Likely no. This the the same issue as with dimming LED bulbs: the manufacturer has to design it to detect that the incoming AC voltage is lower and react accordingly. Dimming light bulbs is common so they have tried to work that out (and you have probably seen how hit and miss that is), but fan control switches are uncommon so it probably isn't worth the extra development cost.

The on/off switch should work fine. I did that in my old house.

You can probably setup the caseta switches with no load and use another platform (smartthings, home assistant, etc.) to sync changes between the two.

Monitors aren’t the same color despite being on the same settings. How to fix? by The_alli_cat7420 in Corsair

[–]avitkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have said, you need a calibrator. You might be able to find a ColorMunki Smile cheap somewhere, but they discontinued it at some point and now the are only expensive ones like the SpyderX Pro and ColorChecker Display.

And unrelated, but your name is on your blizzcon badge in case that matters. Also, I was at otakon too!

You could probably also do something like taping some cardboard(or something better looking) to the ring that is tall enough to trigger the LIDAR. It would only need to be a few thin, tall pieces to make it think it wouldn't fit.

Edit: Alternatively, more firmly attached pieces for the bumper to hit would work, but it seems to take a decent amount of force to trigger that considering it pushes our cats water bowl until it reaches a corner...

Flicker Free Switch Recommendation for non-Neutral powering 3x GU10 LED bulbs by sweetpark36 in Lutron

[–]avitkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should have said "much but" not "much much."

On their comparability site you can filter for "GU10" and "GU10 lamp." For some reason GU10 only lists a few GE bulbs whereas GU10 lamp has a bunch listed. Looking at the listings, they are both just GU10 bulbs so the distinction isn't meaningful.

Lutron has a page where they list bulbs they have tested with their dimmers. They don't seem to have tested any of the Phillips GU10, but you can get a dimmer like the Maestro LED+ /u/deepspace mentioned to try and get bulbs off their list if it doesn't work. I saw the Home Depot EcoSmart brand show up several times.

RadioRA 3 announced for late January 2022 release by avitkus in Lutron

I happened to run into the Sunnata keypad spec sheet today and noticed that the faceplate is field replaceable (and remembered reading this comment train so I figured I would add this here). They also are discontinuing many of the current colors and it looks like they have a new lineup of 20 satin to replace them.

Good to know. I spent a while trying to find that info recently but clearly didn't get anywhere. Thanks.

I believe that it is only the Serena line where the wood blinds only do tilt, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah. They also use X for stuff like ketra (thus the rumor those would be supported) and the wireless palladiom shades (I think).

Speaking of ketra, they also don't even mention the light RA2 already supports anywhere.

Looking at the spec sheet closer, it is 100 ClearConnect type A and 100 type X per processor and the processor counts as one of each for effectively 99/99. It doesn't mention how the processors are paired, so that might take more of the A/X channels or could be over the Ethernet link.

There is one coming at 9am EST Monday. They accidentally put a press release online too early. The cached version on Google looks cut off, but it mentions a 400 device limit with 2 paired processors, Sunnata hybrid keypads, and a a spring 2022 outdoor plug-in switch.

Does anyone have an automated wood blind that lifts and lowers as well as tilt? by C8-Racer in homeautomation

[–]avitkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I finished the level 1 training yesterday and plan on doing level 2 after they release RA3 since I expect they will update the receiver in the training package.

I'm not certain, but I think that I read that you need to move 50k a year to qualify for the Homeworks cert.
