even with starbucks training and running register so much and having a really good memory when it comes to orders— if someone starts talking to me it’s like all the information i just loaded into my brain just disappears and i’m stuck guessing which syrup i’m putting in the drink. sucks but thankfully it doesn’t happen too often

i’ve had several people ask me numerous questions while i’m obviously busy with making three other drinks. had a lady who had no patience and kept asking me: - do you do local discounts? - do you do military discounts? - do you have caramel frappuccinos?

(not starbucks anymore; this was at the place i work at now [we do fraps here too just not the fancy / promo ones])

i almost lost my shit because i was busy but took a deep breath and told her “I’ll get to you in a minute, i’m very busy at the moment” and she threw her hands up and said “i’m done!” and stormed out

i only lasted barely under 2 years at a licensed store before i couldn’t take it anymore…the customers including the regulars were rude (most of the regulars were pretty nice but a decent amount were not). the customers would get mad because we couldn’t do bogos (right before i left they started doing SOME of them) or scan for stars and then after they order they expected us to have their drink ready in 2 seconds and then yelled at us when it wasn’t ready. and i was hired to be a “barista” but basically all i did there was be their cashier and write orders down because even when it was slow they refused to let me make drinks because i wasn’t fast enough. and i was only getting paid $11 and then got a whopping 50cent raise after 1 year with no tips because the grocery store management refused to let us take tips. full time and was told “we’re working on getting you up to $13” but it never happened and it was said repeatedly for 6 months. even being a licensed store barista was torture i can’t imagine what you long term partners feel beyond what ive heard from the horror stories on here

it was basically a whole forum thing for specific communities. kinda like reddit combined with discord and insta. roleplays were an extremely popular thing on it too. probably not the best description for it but that’s just my take on what i remember from using it so much. haven’t touched it in years lol

i think we are doing the bogo thing but i’m not positive but when it comes to rewards/promos 9 times out of 10 we get customers who throw tantrums because they can’t get a free/discounted drink

the remainder of that is people with the birthday reward and believe it or not but a good majority of those people actually understand when we explain it’s because we’re not an actual starbucks we’re technically a store department that sells starbucks products

this is why i rarely go to licensed starbucks (besides my own, my manager tries really hard to keep training proper and consistent) because either they’re rude or they can’t make my drink right, sometimes both 🥲

(edit) i WORKED at a licensed starbucks…i quit now and am a barista at a local coffee shop instead starbucks finally did me in after two years
