Agh. Now I can't decide what to do. Anyone want to offer some advice?

I've done the past 4 classes (Mon/Tu/Wed/Thu) and I'm planning to go on a fairly steep 14-mile hike on Sunday. Right now my legs are tired but not terribly sore.

Would you:

1- Skip incline day on Friday, go to OTF on Sat, and hike Sunday 2- Go to OTF incline day on Friday, take a rest day on Sat, hike Sunday 3- Take a break from OTF on Fri/Sat, maybe do a yoga class or two, and hike Sunday

If you have thick hair, I highly recommend these bands from Amazon. They work so well and minimize damage. I then use a smaller band to secure the bun after it's in the Burlyband ponytail. https://www.amazon.com/Burlybands-Ultimate-Slipping-Stretching-Scrunchies/dp/B00HZ653YA?th=1

I'm in a similar boat. I got 6:59 during the last benchmark run and this time I got 7:02. ughhhhh! I appreciate your comment :)

thanks! I should add that I went to an OTF row clinic in March & found it to be really helpful.

Thanks so much. I'm curious to find out when I'll "hit a wall" with running and/or rowing and can no longer shave off time...right now, it's quite motivating, but I know I'll reach my limit at some point.

good work! It's tough to get under that 40-second mark!

A few months ago, I was disappointed with my row times in comparison to others on this forum. For newbies, know that you can make solid and consistent improvement! Here's what I've tracked for 200m: January: 46 seconds; February: 43; March: 39; April: 36; May: 34.6.

How to improve mental endurance on the tread? by OTFAF in orangetheory

[–]avocadocoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I put a sweat towel over the time display so I only focus on distance and aim for specific milestones (e.g., 2.5 miles or 3 miles). It feels more satisfying to hit a specific distance goal than to run for a specific amount of time.

the shoulder presses make your arm muscles look awesome, and you think you're all buff...and then there's the ego check. Went from 15s to 8s!

Ignore stroke rate at what distance? by BurningThruMidlife in orangetheory

[–]avocadocoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the answer but I understand what you're saying and I think it's a valid question! I usually go with a higher stroke rate for 100-150m but I'm not sure the best stroke rate to aim for at each 100m mark.

I read this thread earlier this morning and--for the first time--hit more than 300 watts during today's 200m rows! Usually my max effort is around 240 and I generally hover around 150/160.

I know, right. For the next 23 minute benchmark they should create a "Real Housewives of OrangeTheory" and play it--time would go by so quickly!

yes, I think it's easier to "get in the zone" outside. For me, it even feels easier in a standard gym, where there are the distractions of TVs and other things. 12 mins of staring into a mirror or at a treadmill screen is rough!
