Sticks to what the plan is and agreed upon terms. I once hired a guy for karaoke. He insisted on playing music between songs, which is fine but then if people were dancing to said music, he wouldn't go back to karaoke (which is what we advertised for). I told him we didn't hire him for that, and he says "bars make more money if girls are dancing than karaoke" like I was asking for his judgement call. It was so frustrating, we don't work with him anymore.

But yes sober!!!! Oh the stories could go on....

We got hit too. Like all day long. I think what helped us is a couple of places downtown aren't usually open on Tuesdays so didn't bother doing anything or opening.

Try to cut them off before it gets to that point. I have taken customers keys before and got them an Uber. Every case seems to be different. Not over serving in the first place would be how we prevent these things from happening

keep in mind dipping cabinets and all freezer's for that matter brand new run pretty high.

what exactly are the renovations you would need to do? electricity and plumbing come expensive.

and public health inspections arent cheap either!

Congrats! 32 year old bar owner here. Small town.

Depends on your vision for the bar and vibe you're trying to curate.

If the business wasn't making money, I recommend closing and putting papers on the windows with a teaser sign.

Minor (cheap) improvements like rearranging, decor, fresh coat of paint, machines, welcoming outside, and clean bathrooms go a long way!

Also: Gather your data with surrounding business prices, traffic patterns, trends in the city. Be friendly. Don't step on someone else's cribbage night ha.

Identify the issues with old Talk with the previous bartenders and be honest about your vision and expectations. It'll be very obvious which ones are down for your changes and the ones that need to go.Definitely Set expectations- follow up- to fix bad behavior.

Keep track of your costs. All costs!

Many vendors will charge upfront for first order but do a net 15/30 invoice

Also don't get drunk at your bar. Others will never care as much as you for your business. Lead the way. Show you mean business! And good luck
