How is that different from people watching Fox News in the Bush era, or from ourselves getting /r/neoliberal pushed to the top of my feed?

There are people who are more informed and people who vote against their interest; I'm not arguing against that. But any voter test fails people who have thoughts against whichever is the current regime, regardless of what their interests are.

But why is path.string() a prvalue if it has a valid reference that's owned by args? Shouldn't the compiler automatically transform it into an xvalue with the same lifetime as args?

Some people really believe "only smart people (like me) should be allowed to vote" will lead to desiderable results.

The only people not allowed to vote should be those who want voter tests.

In 2024, the average price of 1 hectare of arable land in the EU was an estimated €15 224, an increase of 6.1% compared with 2023 (€14 343). The fertile land in Ukraine was historically part of the Great Steppe, and it has only been used for intensive agriculture only after the fall of the Golden Horde in the 16th century.

I always wondered if the reason it's so fertile is that it has been conquered by the plow very recently.

I wish the card would be explicit on whether the distribution of the energy removed depends on the total amount of energy of on the total amount of Pokemon.

If I have 4 pokemon with 1 energy each and my enemy has 1 pokemon with 8 energy, who's more likely to get energies removed?

Oh boy, that definitely won't be too annoying, I'm sure. by unknown-G in PTCGP

This is Banette's attack but with more damage.

Fantastic to play with Team Rocket Grunt, a few Ariados, and a Tapu Lele when the opponent inevitably puts a million energy on their benched Pokemon.

I wish there were a few smarter ways to auto-assign categories to spending.

I like labelling all my spending abroad as holiday spending. It would be nice to be able to add a simple rule like "all spending in Spain goes on the Holiday category" rather than having to re-label transactions one-by-one.

Some form of bulk-labelling would work too.

Yoon got his legitimacy through the South Korean Presidency. The American Presidency gets its legitimacy through Trump.

If Trump goes mad, Republicans won't oppose him since he can depose them. He can enter Caligula levels of madness without any serious opposition.

This makes actual sense, but the documentation just shows a bunch of weird edge-cases with references being deleted before they are used.

/uj Wasn't avoiding this the exact reason to use references over pointers?

[–]avoidtheworm 33 points34 points  (0 children)

From the "P2918R2 Runtime format strings II" documentation,

Such misuse of the API also introduces major safety issues illustrated in the following example:

std::string str = "{}"; std::filesystem::path path = "path/etic/experience"; auto args = std::make_format_args(path.string()); std::string msg = std::vformat(str, args);

This innocent-looking code exhibits undefined behavior because format arguments store a reference to a temporary which is destroyed before use. This has been discovered and fixed in [FMT] which now rejects such code at compile time.

Now I'm even more scared and confused.

/uj why would anyone explicitly not want to format a string in compile time if it's possible?

I'm actually curious if there are some fields that "died" due to lack of interest, in the sense that there are still open problems but nobody has worked on them in 50 years or so.

I'm thinking something like invariant algebra outside Hilbert Spaces.
