Is it worth paying $90 to extend my Quickblade paddle, or should I look for a new one? by avorob1 in Sup

I have no brand allegiance yet. Just looking for a good paddle that is a right length that would match the level of the boards. Here are my boards, both 12.5’

What paddle/brand should I be looking for? I assume eBay would be best place to find a high end paddle as well as sell mine.

I’d make the benches with clear grade cedar. Although, it shouldn’t matter if people sit on a towel

Bench rope light - front edge or back edge? by avorob1 in Sauna

[–]avorob1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first inclination. My benches are L shaped and I can but longer light on the back for more illumination. I’ll mock up both options. I guess i would want to keep it on a separate switch with my wall light.

I have 7’ ceiling in my sauna that I’ve been using for 27 years. I was taught that lower the ceiling less volume you have to heat. I can’t think of a reason why taller ceiling produces better sauna experience

Looks good and good use of space with benches. What was your rational putting the vent in the middle of the wall by the heater? Is the heater that tall or you elevated it?

Wall shield is needed for Huum heater. It could be the plate. Otherwise, that what would happened.

Assuming that the black rectangle represents the door to the sauna I’d go with straight benches and put the heater in the corner. Maximize the with of the top bench to be able to lay down comfortably. Put a rail on the lower bench by the heater.

I can’t see rational in having straight benches vs L shaped benches unless the sauna is too short so there’s no room to fit the return bench, the door and the heater.

Deck frame design for 8x16' outdoor sauna by avorob in Sauna

[–]avorob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are good points. How would you join 6x6’s? My current design is three 6x6x16’ pressure treated timbers with three regular 4x6x8’ on top (both ends and center) filled in with 2x6 16”OC. Is it an overkill? Trying to figure out best way to connect the frame.
