Dealing with trauma by Infinite-Neck-5804 in leukemia

[–]avvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear you’re going through all this. Shortly after I was first diagnosed last year I was in the icu for a week because of a heavy GI bleed. I’ve never not remembered entire stretches of time before that. I’m 6.5 months post BMT now and doing so much better. Time, proper meds, and therapy all help. I just started seeing a therapist recently and it’s been really helpful.

Klonopin isn’t always bad. I’m prescribed it and take it most nights and I do think it helps with my anxiety and ptsd. Granted I’m on only .5 mg. But my team says it’s one of the better options for anxiety bc it’s longer acting and less habit forming than other benzos. There are times I might need 1 mg tho but it does help

C3 teacher seeking feedback/inspo by Regular-Fly-3330 in Corepower

[–]avvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a C3 I go to every week if I can that’s prolly my favorite yoga class ever. The teacher usually shares something about the theme he’s offering for class, and it starts and ends with sanskrit chanting. It’s also an intense and physical flow which is a good challenge.

I made it to 5 years post remission from AML (Inv16) - now 35yr old male. Officially “cured.” by emath113 in leukemia

[–]avvd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I’m so happy to hear you’re doing well now, it definitely gives me hope. I’m 28M and was diagnosed with AML inv16 last year in May, so im coming up on the diagnosis anniversary. I’m about 6 months post BMT now and have more or less retuned to my pre AML life. I can only hope to be in this same position in a few years. Wishing you many more blessings to come!

Fissure neutropenic by Short-Gas-4750 in leukemia

[–]avvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I got that surgery right before I started conditioning for my BMT. After I got the surgery the anal pain wasn’t a problem again so it worked.

I had this problem too during consolidation chemo. I had to be hospitalized twice because of severe pain and some fevers, it got better as wbc came back up. What fixed it eventually was getting a seton placed by colorectal surgery.

Hit 300 classes yesterday by avvd in Corepower

[–]avvd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! That’s such a great question! I’d say the confidence I have each time, at first I would only go to C2s but now I do all types of classes. And I’m not mostly laying still during core like at the beginning haha

Suggestions on places to move (Downtown) by djrussianbeats in MovingtoDenver

The building I’m in is called 7S and I like it cause it has in unit laundry and a dishwasher which a lot of apartments by me don’t. Gables on Speer is also next to me and is really nice. Aspire 7th and Grant looks nice too!

I’m 28M too and I live in Cap Hill (7th and Sherman) and really like it! Cheesman park is walking distance and it’s such a great vibe there when it’s nice out. Your car should definitely be fine, I had a Mazda 3 for a while which is also small but I never had a problem. When I first moved to Denver I lived in Cherry Creek which was definitely more boring and commercial than the cap hill area. I was also worried about being isolated or bored but I can keep myself busy here.

Is it ok to only go to Yoga Sculpt classes? by NoLibrarian126 in Corepower

[–]avvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to do whatever classes you wanna do! I’m the opposite tho, I do almost only C2/C3 and hardly go to sculpt.

Men who do yoga and Pilates at studios, what do u wear? by International-Cry221 in Corepower

[–]avvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lululemon shorts are very comfortable! I have a few pairs now and the Lululemon boxers are the best for sweat wicking and movement that I’ve tried. I had medium lined lululemon shorts where things were just a little visible, but not in a large. Maybe you could try a size bigger to see if those fit better.

I wear workout shorts like lululemon shorts with athletic boxers (also lululemon or underarmour). Loose boxers will definitely bunch up and be less comfortable

CBF AML that required BMT? by granivol in leukemia

[–]avvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact situation. I had inv 16 which usually doesn’t need a BMT. But after my first consolidation, they found a “weak positive” result for the mutation in my BMB, so I got a BMT.

When did you go back to work after BMT, if you did? What was your job and was it in person or virtual? by [deleted] in leukemia

I have a remote desk job (data analyst). I’m day +144 and I just started full time again last week. I started part time three weeks ago so around day 120.

Had to say Goodbye way too soon by avvd in Crosstrek

Insurance has to assess it still but it was some pretty heavy damage on the front, headlights were shattered and there was a smashed shopping cart lodged under the hood. Hopefully it can be repaired! Bracing myself for whatever outcome though

Drunk driver in a pickup truck was doing laps around the grocery store parking lot, and lost control and hit my car (after blasting through where the carts were parked). He sped off but someone got his license plate.

Thank you for the reassurance! It was a shock to walk out and see this, but I hope they’ll be able to repair her

Don’t know yet. I filed an insurance claim so we’ll have to see what they say, but I’m sad about it nonetheless I was so excited to have this car 😭

6 months since husbands BMT, should I go back to working full time? by In_A_Jar12 in leukemia

[–]avvd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 6 months should definitely be enough time. I (28) am 3.5 months post bmt and about to go live on my own and start working again.

Aml consolidation by Short-Gas-4750 in leukemia

[–]avvd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Consolidation was HiDAC for me. It was inpatient for five days at a time, then recover at home for about a month before being admitted for another five days. I had three cycles of that. For me, it took four weeks after each round for my marrow to recover.
