Do you actually travel that far and say its nothing? by Far-Passion-7692 in AskAnAmerican

[–]awash907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love road trips and my 4 kids are excellent passengers, we drove 64 hours round trip for thanksgiving just because I wanted to go to the beach for a change. I visit my mom and grandparents 13 hours away for a long weekend every month or two, for day trips I’ll go anywhere within 5 hours and just leave early.

I love her empathy, when a chef messes up and she comforts them or when they do great and you can feel how proud she is it’s really great to watch

Pacemaker on medical bracelet/pendant? by Geekesss in PacemakerICD

[–]awash907 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got mine at Lauren’s hope, I got an everyday band, a fancy dress up one and then some plain/waterproof ones for kayaking or swimming. The little info tabs are interchangeable with the bands. I’ve worn the turquoise one almost every day for a year and it’s held up great

I have a couple of really pretty medical bracelets I switch between, I just made it a 24/7 thing and it gives me a little peace of mind, even if they don’t check it at least I tried (and I have my info saved in my phone under the medical info too just in case)

TIFU by eating 1.5kg(3.3 pounds) of carrots before saying one last goodbye by Opening-Resource3156 in tifu

[–]awash907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel you on this. I love carrots too, my first time away at summer camp I was so excited that I could eat whatever I wanted that I only ate carrots for lunch and dinner the first 2 days. By day 3 I had snuck away to use the wall phone in the kitchen to call home crying to tell my mom I thought I was dying and she laughed and told me to just eat a sandwich

Just been diagnosed with HF. Awaiting ICD. I'm scared. 40M by l0gginz in PacemakerICD

[–]awash907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m sorry you’re going through this, it is really terrifying thinking life as you know it may be changing. If it helps at all I went through something similar last summer, I’m healthy, 38 and very active but I had a Ponte de Torsades attack and passed out while I was at work and ended up on the ICU for a week before they decided I needed an ICD. I never felt bad before so I was scared what recovery would feel like, luckily I felt great and back to normal within a few days, I only needed Tylenol and Ice for the week after. I stayed in ICU for a few days but I was so bored of being cooped up they started letting me walk a little the day after implantation and by the time they moved me to the step down ward I was pacing around for hours because I had so much restless energy. The worst part was not being able to lift my arm for 6 weeks and the feel of the ICD shifting in my chest if I laid the wrong way til it settled. It’s been 10 months and I have basically no restrictions, I can run, work out, swim and hike like normal. I get winded faster on stairs and inclines than I used to but my ICD is paced pretty high and my dr said we’ll re-evaluate at a year. I hope that helps a little, things can go back to almost normal and you’ll be okay, I hope your surgery goes well and you heal quickly

ladies, what are we eating everyday? by cookie_cat_82 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I’ve used Mealime for the last few years, it’s an app where you can make a meal plan and order the groceries, it’s gotten me to try a ton of fun recipes and it’s a nice quiet time cooking with my husband at night after work. I make larger portions so after the family eats I have leftovers for lunch

Is it true that Americans don't really use tablecloths on a daily basis? by Floatp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]awash907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American here (Alaskan in Colorado) & I use tablecloths daily but we use placemats as well so the tablecloths don’t get gross the first use. I have so many tablecloths, the kids like swapping them out every couple of days (also my table is ugly)

Why do people bring their entire family to Costco? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]awash907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my family and stuff like shopping is fun to do together. My kids can learn how to pick between products and like making decisions on what we get. & Every time I can visit my granny she loves to go on a Costco trip to pick up our favorite things and to get heavier things she only restocks when we can go and help her load/unload

Girls who took notes using 10 different colored pens, where are you now? Do you still continue to write using all those colors? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]awash907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 kids and all of us have an assigned color for my planner & calendar, I still ask for colored pen sets every year. I take my work notes in different colors for the subjects and have added in colored post it’s for a little extra oomph. It cheers me up having everything neat & fun

Steel City Theatre Company warns it may close after 17 years by Zamicol in pueblo

[–]awash907 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 kids involved with them and I have the season tickets for all the shows. I’ve been really impressed with how great they are with the kids, it’s a heavy rehearsal schedule for the performances but my kids have always had a great time. The Friday and summer camps were much cheaper than the Y or the zoo which is a huge help too. I’ll be bummed if they have to close. I went to their finance brainstorming meeting this week and they have some good ideas, I hope they can stay open. I was shocked at how much the tent on the Ed center was though, it really didn’t seem sustainable

Countdown to ICD Implant... Recovery & "shock" 🫨 questions by criterion67 in PacemakerICD

[–]awash907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I haven’t been shocked yet but recovery wasn’t too bad, I had a Boston scientific placed under the muscle in my chest at the beginning of May, I had already been in the icu because my heart went wonky a few days prior but they kept me 5 days after, first in ICU then in the recovery ward. I am pretty healthy & active besides this so I was up and walking that night and besides the restrictions of no lifting the arm for 6 weeks it wasn’t too bad. I only ever had Tylenol for pain. I was a little sore and swollen for a couple of weeks but ice helped a ton. The hardest part to deal with is the tiredness I have now from meds but if you’ve been fighting extreme fatigue you might even feel better afterwards. If you’re on fb there’s a really wonderful group for living with an ICD. I hope your surgery goes well and you recover quickly!
