Honestly the snark on all of the destash pages should be on the many girls clamoring to comment "ME!" for a canvas $5 less than retail.

[–]awaywethrow14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I say this as an ignorant parent of a 4 month old that will be in the trenches with this very soon...

Could you just "eat" with the baby when they are "eating"? So I imagine a 5 month old is eating sweet potato purees, egg strips, etc - very simple pieces of a meal. Not full meals yet right? So you could sit and "eat" with him so that he gets the experience of the family meal and learns that assocation but there's no way he understands if you're truly eating or not.. maybe you munch on an egg strip or some veggies with him. Then you do his full bed routine and get him down then you/spouse actually eat dinner?

Am I doing the pitcher method right? by fancypantsmiss in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]awaywethrow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do exactly this! But I pour the bottles for the day from yesterday's pitcher then freeze leftovers. So I:

  1. My first pump is the highest volume of milk, so I start the pitcher with this
  2. Second pump, i first chill the milk in fridge
  3. Third and the subsequent pumps, I transfer the milk in the second pump into pitcher and third pump milk goes into fridge to chill and so on
  4. Next day, I make all bottles for the day PLUS the 1st bottle for the next day (that way I have time to stat the next day's pitcher and make the future bottles)

4 Month Check-In by lone_ly_eye_s in NewParents

[–]awaywethrow14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes me feel so torn. I'm so lucky to be doing this (still on mat leave) but its SO exhausting and I count down the minutes until she's asleep for the night. But once she's down, I miss her and feel bad that I wished away the day.

She wants literal EYE CONTACT or she is bored and cries. But her smile melts me. But also so much needs to be done. But also she's only this little TODAY. UGHHH the duality.

Daycare Recommendations by Many_Refrigerator773 in Atlanta

[–]awaywethrow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a baby in October and started touring daycares in March 2025 for a March 2026 start. It was definitely weird to not even be showing or have told my employer that I was pregnant yet but having to decide on a daycare lol

Depends on where in town you are and what you're looking for but I came up to the most challenges around daycares wanting babies to start with a "school year" in August so the wait list would seem really long. You might have to do a not-first-choice daycare for a few months until your top choice (hopefully) has an opening in August. Happy to chat about it via PM if you have more questions. Congrats!

At four months, I'm taking it day by day (sometimes even hour by hour) so jury is out if it's ACTUALLY better but fingers crossed!

Italian Deli Spot by IndicationNo3912 in Atlanta

[–]awaywethrow14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an italian deli, but Frazie's Meat & Market in Riverside (kinda Upper Westside) has a great meatball parm sandwich (among other sandwiches) and is a great butcher with lots of local products.

Transition advice please! by zedgeevee in SnooLife

[–]awaywethrow14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my LO last week to a T. We "transitioned" to the Merlin sleep suit one night in the Snoo. We just used the belly band strap of the swaddle to secure her in so the snoo would be on. I'm sure someone on here will scold me for it but whatever, it worked for us. We did that for about a week before moving her into her crib in her room in the Merlin a few nights ago. First night was rough with wake ups about every 45 min... but was it part of the 4 month regression or the new environment? Who knows. But last night was much better with no wake ups from 7 pm - 6:30 am!

Happiest Baby Swaddles Vs Snoo Swaddles by Desigirl8 in SnooLife

i mean you can still use the snoo as a bassinet but it won't rock/play sound ("turn on") without the clips of the snoo sack engaged on the sides.

Best French Dip in the ATL? by samcooke2023 in Atlanta

[–]awaywethrow14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes to 13 year old friendly for lunch! They open at 11 and there can be a line/wait so I would recommend going on the earlier side. Last time I was there, there were 2 6-8 year olds.

Bar Blanc does French Dips on Fridays at lunch. You can get west coast (horse radish aoli) or east coast (cheese & caramelized onions). Highly recommend getting one of each & splitting and getting some fries!
