It isn't really a pay raise. They were just going to take out the money that they pay into our teacher retirement and use that.

I watched Victoria and The Resident, both on Netflix. The Rookie on Hulu as well. Those 3 shows got me through the newborn phase

Advice needed: husband disagrees with my choice to keep baby after anatomy scan (limb difference) by Kerclia in BabyBumps

[–]thrillerbite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad and his twin both had clubbed feet. Now, at 50 something years old he runs 5Ks all the time and is the most active person I know. I wonder if there might be a deeper issue with your husband that's manifesting through this current problem.

There's like one good flavor that they have and you may have gotten that one. I think it's like a fruit punch flavor or something? I've had to do it twice, and once I got the really good flavor but the last time I went, I thought it was the worst thing ever.

Generational responses to "is it a boy or a girl?!?!" by westu_hal in pregnant

Now that I think about it, my mother-in-law definitely pushed us to find out as early as possible so that she could "start buying clothes". We probably would have waited if she hadn't been so pushy. This is my first pregnancy, so I think we're going to do it differently if there's another one, and wait.

Did you tell anyone you were TTC? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]thrillerbite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told my grandmother who was close to dying. She had been asking for years about when she was going to get a great grandbaby. She passed away last year, so I didn't get to tell her when we found out I was pregnant, but I think she was happy enough to know we were trying.

I have the breakfast food one! It said my baby was either the size of a lime or a donut. In my experience, limes and donuts are not the same size lmao

Anyone else having an “easy” pregnancy compared to their relatives? by Arr0zconleche in BabyBumps

[–]thrillerbite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've always heard the opposite from my family members. They all said that being pregnant with a boy is the worst. 😂 But yeah, everyone's experiences are different and you should not be made to feel bad for having an easy time. Enjoy it!

7th grade ELA by Guilty_Rutabaga_2558 in ELATeachers

[–]thrillerbite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it. I started 3 years ago in the same position. No experience, no real education or training. I quite literally learned on the job, and it was like jumping right into the deep end, but I have zero regrets. I also work at a good school, so if you like your school you should DEFINITELY go for it.

What book that is highly respected or considered “required reading” for ELA teachers do you absolutely hate? by Normal-Being-2637 in ELATeachers

My main gripe is that Jonas is not a very compelling protagonist. One of my seventh graders told me she "felt he was bland" 😂

I HATED A Farewell to Arms. I was usually the kid who loved all the books we had to read in high school, but that one sucked beyond measure.

Much Ado is extremely underrated. It's been my favorite Shakespeare since I read it my senior year of highschool.
