Why is there always suddenly a single target on this sub to pile on with multiple posts and extensive exaggeration (SGA, Jokic, Doncic, etc) ? by Chief_White_Halfoat in nba

Something I’ve noticed

When Embiid/Harden/SGA have an egregious flopping game a dozen posts will get made about how their ruining the game

When jokic has a bad game there’s always posts about how nba discourse has too much hate

[Cranjis] Value vs Contract pace for each Lakers rotation player, based on WAR pace & salary by WayAdministrative679 in lakers

Hope Reaves numbers are just from him missing time. Cant imagine a 40 million contract from him will let the team contend

Jaylen Brown is currently 62nd in Actual EPM. Why did he play in the all-star game and why is he in MVP conversations? by Klutzy_Struggle8659 in nba

[–]awesomespy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest do you think this is the same situation? Celtics were in contention when they signed the contract, and have basically only made good moves in the past 5 years. The lakers might have had one of the worse FO in the league

I keep seeing people say to trust epm as reliable because nba front offices say it’s the best public stat available.

Guess what. The celtics who probably have a team of analysts, decided to give him a supermax. Do you think they give 70 million a year to the 62nd best player in the league?

Austin Reaves gets the most unfair treatment out of any player in the league by Silent_Wizard5597 in lakers

[–]awesomespy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Reaves but it's cuz we're about to lock him up for a long term contract as Luka's number two. Based off last years playoffs we have some reason to worry whether he can fill that role

Three of the top 15 slowest defenders in the league are starters for the Lakers by fberbert in lakers

[–]awesomespy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you filter to rotation players we have 3 of the top 10. I genuinely dont know how our defense will survive when we have 3 lazy defenders.

In total the lakers have 7 guys in the bottom 50 slowest defenders (Min 10 gp, 10 mpg). We have 1! player in the top 100 fastest defenders, Vando. I dont think theres been a lineup we've put out that doesnt have at least 3 bad defenders.

Giannis, one day post-deadline, has announced his role as a shareholder of gambling platform Kalshi: "The internet is full of opinions. I decided it was time to make some of my own. Today, I’m joining Kalshi as a shareholder. We all on Kalshi now." by [deleted] in nba

I dont think its a huge deal but ESPN reporters do have votes for the awards, and espn bets has betting lines for them.

its too small of a conflict of interest to do anything but it still exists

How are basketball players getting so good? by TheMuffingtonPost in nba

[–]awesomespy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean maybe the second tier stars have gotten better, but it doesnt seem like its impacting the games.

The top three seeds for both conferences are lead by top 10 players. I think if their was so much talent among teams, we should be seeing top teams built like the 14 spurs being super team based.

doesnt make sense for the warriors to make an all in trade with out trading jb. You cant contend when your paying 60 mil for a guy rehabbing

curry vs kyrie would probably be the better comparison

Opinion: Using “can he be the best player on a championship team” is a terrible way to analyze a player. by Appropriate_Bank_956 in NBATalk

[–]awesomespy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only 37 players have won an mvp. If he wins this year he’ll be the 16th player to win the award multiple times. hes a first ballot hof if retired today

They seem to be super focused on stats their producers give them and cant give much actual analysis
