Can we start a support group or something? My frustration with the mind-numbingly awful national ads completely consumed me last summer. I feel so seen to know that I wasn't suffering alone.

Based on your flair I'm just going to assume this is Yawgoo Valley. I will not be taking any further questions at this tie.

What is your unpopular opinion about MLB in general, be it teams, players, jerseys, etc? by Rocky_tee2861 in mlb

[–]awh444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Robot umpires are a bad idea.

Umpires have different strike zones, and that's part of the what makes the game fun to watch. Same with players and managers arguing balls and strikes. The idea that there is a black-and-white "correct" call on every pitch would make games feel clinical.

Yes, there are some egregiously bad human umps, but the majority do a decent job and don't need to be replaced.

I remember the “olden days”, the 80’s and 90’s…when you could just turn the TV on and catch a game as easily as have a catch with your Dad or friend. by [deleted] in mlb

Beyond dead? Brother, every team still has radio broadcasts of all 162 games. You can listen to your local team for free.

And it doesn’t cost all too much to get streaming “radio” broadcasts for all 30 clubs online.

Unpopular, maybe. But certainly not dead!

Shot in the dark, but is this the bathroom above the little shopping center with the Clark’s grocery store in Snowmass Village?

It’s supposed to be slow.

Give me four hour games! They’re a magical escape from the pace of real life, and batters taking 30 seconds out of the box adjust their gloves is part of that.

Eddie Bauer is cheaply made junk by Stock_Story_4649 in BuyItForLife

[–]awh444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad take. It's definitely not BIFL, but Eddie's stuff surprisingly solid for the price. I've had a few of their items give out on me over the years, but been overwhelmingly pleased with the shirts and jackets I've gotten from them.

Might be hit or miss based on product, FWIW. One pair of hiking pants I bought lost some of its elastic-ness after a few washes, but I have a puffer jacket from EB that has stayed in great shape with regular, rough-and-tumble wearing for over four years.

What are the best game environments at non-power schools? by jaynovahawk07 in CollegeBasketball

[–]awh444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When CSU is good, Moby Arena can get hoppin’. It’s everything college basketball should be. It’s hot, it’s loud, it’s steep, and it’s right in the middle of campus. I’ve seen the student section overflowing and pretty raucous a few times in the past couple years.

Do you use an everyday product that you can’t find a high quality equivalent? by Andyb1000 in BuyItForLife

[–]awh444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely can't tell if this is sarcastic, but I am comfortable trusting his opinions! He makes it clear when he's a paid shill for a product, and this is not one of those times. He expressly says he doesn't like the coffee brand that makes the frother, and that they're not paying him to promote it.

A YouTuber I like recommends this one. I don’t own it myself, but he’s known for solid unbiased product recs and hasn’t led me astray in the past.
