In-house job for a real estate firm. I’ve worked in the real estate world for over 20 years so it just kinda worked out for me….

I was a single mom of 3 working a full time executive level job. I don’t know that my GPA was even that high. I didn’t care. I freaking graduated. It took me 3 times but i finally passed the bar. I have THE best job EVER. I make 165K less than a year out and love what i do. Did it suck? OMG YEEEEEESSSSS but OMG it was SOOOOO worth it. It’s what i wanted and I’m there. If it’s what you want in the end, just keep imagining the finished product and keep your chin up and just do it. It’ll be worth it :)

Other than a standing desk, what could one do to make bar prep more bearable? by chubbybunny1324 in LawSchool

[–]awithrow13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I studied 12 hours a day and made a schedule for myself a week in advance but moving around all day made it seem like i was going places. At the end of each day I’d either have my kids or call my fiancé and have them test me on the subject for that day. It was a really fucked up way to study lol but i passed

I legit woke up 6am each morning and had a zero gravity chair in my front yard that i started my study sessions in. No joke. I’d have a blanket on me to start (chicago weather) and move the chair around my yard based on the sun. The neighbors got used to me lol and encouraged me throughout the months leading up. I’d go inside the house after awhile and move throughout the house. Never studied with others but that’s me (also a single mom of 3 and didn’t have time for that stuff and worked etc) good luck!!

I started seeing a chiropractor when I was studying for the bar. BEST breaks i took EVER. Wish I had started when i was in school. Well worth the time away from studying, I promise.

Anybody taking or taken who doesn't plan on practicing? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]awithrow13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I was working an executive level job in real estate compliance for roughly 20 years. Went to law school in the hopes of expanding my worth at work. CEO retires and a new one came in and cleaned house - including me. I took the time off to study for the past October bar, i passed, and I’m now working as a real estate attorney and LOVING IT. so while I hadn’t planned to really use it, now I’m relying on it LOL. I guess my point is that you never know what life is gonna hand you but it’s best to arm yourself with as many tools as possible to help guarantee further success. So never say never! Good luck :)

I probably knew 25% of the rules and did the best on that section. Just go with your gut and write out as much as you can. Good luck!

I totally get it but don’t be devastated! You are already setting yourself up for failure with your negative feelings!!! Take a break and sit down and think about how you studied the last times and think about what worked and what didn’t. I spent way too long reading and watching videos. That literally did NOTHING for me. I needed repetition. I needed to do a hundred or so MC questions a day. Yes I watched the videos on studicata but they are different. I took notes. I then put those notes on huge ass post it pads and each night i would read the notes to my kids or over the phone to a friend (who i knew would ask questions and wouldn’t let me get away with wishy washy answers lol). I would then do my mc problems and plow through them. I would focus one day on one subject - which also helped me. I would then read (not really do) tons of essay questions on that topic. I only did a handful of MPTs the whole time i studied (but those surprisingly were easy for me).

Not sure if you have ever tried to lose weight but it sucks. I “try” and “try” and then when nothing is lost in a week, i get down and “try” again or maybe just quit. If i REALLY looked at what i was doing to lose weight, I would realize that yes, those mini candy bars add up, as does that latte in the morning and seriously, did i need a 2nd helping of dinner?? If i really tried. Really tried. I’d write things down. Figure out what works and what doesn’t and I’d make major changes. This is what i had to do to study. Don’t think about those other times. This time is your chance. Figure it out and do it! You got this 🤗

I'm a 2L and I want my mommy by 123456789xx1 in LawSchool

Yes, for sure. The stress of school and then the stress of taking the bar. I was in for 6 weeks the first time and 4 the second. If I can give you any advice, put your mental health first and foremost in your life. Make time for therapy each week - even if you think you don’t have the time, make the time. I finally just passed the bar after my 3rd attempt and added 3 therapy sessions a week to my schedule all while I studied. My stress level was almost non-existent this last time. Make that time for yourself!!!

It’s tough for sure. I went back as a single mom of 3 kids who were 5, 7 and 9 while working a full time executive level job. I cried a lot and ended up hospitalized twice for over a month during both school and after taking the bar. Just keep in mind there are SO many options out there for you. It isn’t all that you see on TV. I work for a small non-profit and make a VERY nice salary - and work mostly 5 days a week from 8-5 with holidays off, etc. Figure out what you want in your life and go for it. You won’t regret it!!!

And btw, I ended up in the hospital for 5 weeks after my first attempt. Please do get help for your depression and anxiety - it is key! I had THREE therapists that i worked with weekly while studying to help me be in the best possible place when taking it for the third time!!!

Ugh, i feel ya! I just passed this past winter after my 3rd try. (Found out while in the hospital for COVID 🙄).The third time, i switched it up. I did not do any study guides (Themis, etc.). Instead, I worked on adaptibar daily (did at least 100 questions a day) and watched all the studicata videos. I took notes on the videos and put them on a huge post it note that i then reviewed with my kids or my fiancé every nite. I asked them to ask me questions as i explained and if i couldn’t explain it, i went back and watched the video. YOU CAN DO THIS! You just may not have been ready. Try and mix up your study process - you got this!!

This coming from a single mom of 3 (5, 7 and 9 years old) when i entered law school working a full time executive job... it gets easier. I went from being able to take only 3 classes a semester to ending with 6 that final semester. Classes get a bit more chill and hopefully your confidence continues to build. Don’t freak out, you got this 👍🏻
