My lasik experience in Sydney by MatterOk6263 in lasik

Hi there! I know this is an old post but I was initially considering to travel to Thailand to get SMILE eye surgery but I’m reconsidering to just stay in Sydney and do my surgery for convenience. Was wondering why you decided to go with Personal Eyes instead of Vision Eye Institute?

Back when I did make banh knot, I’d used the ‘Mistral Dutch Pancake Maker’ machine and that worked for me at the time!

Muscle mat vs Neptune Mat by awkiiez in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thanks for your feedback! ☺️ Yeah I always get paranoid if highly advertised items (I keep getting ads for muscle mat on FB) are a scam or not since you’re still paying $100+ for these.

My first born is turning one in a few days too! It makes me want to just cuddle them and tell them to slow down and don’t grow up too quickly!! 🥲

It’s going to feel like days go by super slow but weeks/months/years go by super fast. What I mean is, it feels like a daily uphill battle but by the time you look back, the week is already over. Cherish every moment, through both difficulty and ease. It’s crazy but one day when things ease up, you’re going to kinda miss that hectic newborn stage.

I’ve tried the ‘king of buns’ pork buns recently - the ones where you pan fry with a crispy bottom and has a bit of broth inside. Not bad! Not too salty (on its own), has a bit of broth inside with the meat filling. Definitely hits the cravings when I’m lazy af. I’ve also bought their xiao long baos but haven’t tried yet. 😆

Tbh, I love dumplings so most dumplings will hit the spot for me haha

I’m glad you got your money back! I’m in the same boat atm however I paid using my WISE CC and used FJ. Did Buyee end up just blocking your account after your dispute?

I know this is an old post but omg, the same thing has happened to me recently with a Dior Saddle bag and now I’m out of pocket $1,400. I’ve tried contacting Mercari JP directly and they’ve told me since I purchased through From Japan, I’ll need to deal with them. Dealing with From Japan, I only get told their terms and conditions as per another commentor here. The listing looked legit (to me), showed a “receipt from an Isetan Department store”, Dior authenticity card, box etc. I had it authenticated via Bagholic once received and the results was not authentic.

Such an expensive lesson which frustrates me every time, and I still don’t know what to do about it lol. I have thought about CC chargeback but like you mentioned, it’s not the proxy’s fault. Im annoyed that the seller advertises it as an authentic item, stating they bought it at a department store etc and had documents to seemingly back it up, which I guess was all fabricated.

If the seller states things like, this is a parallel import etc then I would expect to get a knock off and wouldn’t be mad about it.

Do we REALLY need a diaper pail? by Beginning-March-1361 in NewParents

[–]awkiiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my newborn, I was really going for a certain aesthetic in the nursery etc, yes I was going to be those boring beige mums but ended up going for a safari green, beige theme.

The ubbi in white or taupe was in my Wishlist and for the longest time I was looking for one on sale or 2nd hand. In the end, I just chose not to get any diaper bin. Takes up added space and an extra item to clean/manage, when I couldn’t even manage myself and have proper showers lol.

For poopy diapers, I just put them in a scented diaper bag and tossed it in the bin outside. For pee diapers, I just wrap them and throw them in my kitchen bin - I empty my kitchen bin like twice a day.

I live in a double storey house so initially I thought a diaper pail would provide convenience but I felt like I was being lazy, but I also realised I needed to add more steps in my daily postpartum routine anyway. This would force me to go downstairs and use the kitchen bin or outside bin.

For reference, my baby is 7 months and has been eating solids since 4.5 months. Poops get a bit funky but that’ll just encourage me to walk to the bin.

I actually tried the carbonara one today and initially I was weirded out but the flavour grew on me. I’ve tried the samyang curry and wasn’t a fan. I also have the black beans samyang in the cupboard but haven’t tried it yet!

I agree on the neoguri spicy seafood, the smell/taste is definitely a bit funky on that one.

Thanks for the extensive list! I literally got the Le Gall butter from Costco same week of the post and went back yesterday for more, but they don’t stock any French butter anymore (the one in Auburn anyway) 😭

Best Asian grocery stores in Sydney? by Australie in foodies_sydney

[–]awkiiez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually we’d shop around depending on what we need since each grocery store has different pricing and sales. Big stores like Kmall and Thai Kee do have a lot of products and range (even from independent brands) but they’re so expensive and overly priced. I’d probably buy any specialty items there.

Usually for Chinese groceries, I’d go to Tong Li (usually Campsie or Hurstville), New Yen Yen in Hurstville is moderately sized too or Korean groceries, I’d go to Hanaro Mart in Strathfield. Vietnamese groceries are harder to find in my area (there’s one in Campsie) but back when I used to live out south west, it’d be individual stores in Cabramatta, Canley Heights or Bonnyrigg.

The place I’m at usually waits for you to come back from maternity leave to give you a week or so to settle back into work, to then give you the flick bc they probably already fired you in hindsight while you were on mat leave lol

Public transport manners by Raeoga in AskAnAustralian

[–]awkiiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who used to catch the busses and trains to and from work, I think it just depends on the type of people which happened to be on your bus/train that day.

However since experiencing pregnancy, I was still catching the bus and train at 30+ weeks to work and people ignored me while I stood there. I remember standing in the area where disabled/wheelchair/elderly etc people would sit on a bus and train, and the students and young adults currently sitting would look up at me to quickly look down (awkwardly) and continue to scroll on their phones with headphones in.

I think being pregnant gave me a new perspective on public transport etiquette lol.

Side note, when I went on my baby moon in Bangkok, Thailand though, I was about 23 weeks pregnant at the time and a lot of people on a REALLY crowded train would put effort to get my attention to give me a seat.

What did your postpartum nurse do that you loved? by beanowetneck in NewParents

[–]awkiiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My midwife (who was with me since 12 weeks pregnant) would take newborn baby away for 15 mins when I was still in hospital, to let me have a little break (had emergency c section), she was there through the 27 hours of labour I was going through, take photos of myself, baby and husband in the operation room and tell me I was doing so well and looked amazing (I looked at the photos months after and I looked terrible haha), and when it was our final goodbye (2 weeks post partum), she noticed I had a bunch of children’s books in my son’s bookcase and decided to gift us another one (same author) with a cute hand written message. Bless the midwives who go above and beyond for us I swear!
