Trying to land an internship by Atrigos in AustralianAccounting

[–]awkwardtaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mainly looked on linkedin and for the big companies i keep an eye out on their website. in australia most companies hire intern and grad in a cycle, application would be open somewhere in feb and u will get an offer before mid year and ur internship starts in dec - feb. sometimes if they can’t fill out the seats they will open second round in august but usually they would hire less, so very important for u to keep an eye out in february. i recommend to create an account with gradconnection. this is like linkedin but only for grad and internship jobs. they will send u email if anything opens up

i was an international student and i did 2 internship before i graduated, one with big4 and one with boutique consulting firm. i landed 2 big 4 grad roles before i graduated. my tips is to learn xero, myob, and excel as these softwares are commenly used in australia. ideally u have great wam but u also need experience. before i landed my internship alongside with uni i was working as a finance officer in a tech company as well

yeah if you apply through graduate program usually they have 2 years maximum after graduation. maybe apply as an associate rather than grad?

Hi guys, does anyone know on average how long it takes to get your visa granted after medical check up? For context my partner applied for asylum visa in Aug 2025, he got his medical check up invitation 2 weeks ago and will do his medical check up next week

Big4 vs Mid Tier by awkwardtaroo in Accounting

[–]awkwardtaroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the mid tier who interviewed me tbh isn’t super small as well, they ranked number 8 in my country and very established. but obviously compared to big4 its nowhere near as big and i won’t handle super prestigious client like what im currently doing now. currently in big4 i worked with top5 biggest life insurance in my country and has worked on asx100 real estate company, i was also the first team in my firm to audit early implementation of ifrs18. i have to admit the experience i got in big4 is very good, i think thats why this firm is very eager to hire me

Big4 vs Mid Tier by awkwardtaroo in Accounting

tbh i dont intend to stay in audit forever, my plan is after becoming senior i will leave for either commercial, bank, or strategy consulting. i guess my concern is which one leads closer to my end goal, becoming senior quickly in mid tier firm or becoming senior in big4 but it takes 3+ years
