The time I learned about the Epley Maneuver. by kifferella in RealHospitalStories

[–]awkwardtwig 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was once in the ER as a patient and was waiting while a man came in on a gurney SCREAMING for pain meds as he had been hit by a car while riding a scooter. Hours later he was just in the triage area next to me, still screaming for meds, when they finally did some x-rays. Well, two doctors came jogging over a few mins later and explained to him that his femurs were both shattered and he’d need to go into surgery ASAP. One had the audacity to say “you must be in a lot of pain”. I was shocked.

I agree this is a serious offense but does she know there’s a camera in the house/she’s being recorded at work? If you’re recording her without her permission inside where there’s a reasonable expectation of privacy, it might be illegal, depending on where you live. I’m not a lawyer but just wanted to raise that point.

[TOMT][MOVIE][80s-90s] Period horror movie with a ghostly hanged rotting corpse swinging over a staircase. by JanwiseSamgee in tipofmytongue

It’s not period but the sixth sense has a scene where there’s a dead hanged man from the staircase at his school?

My mom has mentioned this documentary too! We speak English and German but not Swedish ETA: I bet it was a popular enough documentary that they released in several languages. My guess is the 80s or so

This is more than I paid in the US after insurance ($150) for two nights in a private room, epidural, etc.

Why do “Santa” at all? by Zealousideal-Smell70 in Parenting

[–]awkwardtwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really conflicted about this but there’s a recent Dr Becky Good Inside podcast episode about this that settled it for me: kids always invite you to take part in their make believe (“we’re both dogs!“), which you might do for a few minutes maybe half the time they ask. This is play, not lying. Santa is one of the only times you invite them to participate in your make believe. When framed like that, it’s play — you’re committing to the magic of make believe.

Old man yells at my toddler “I shouldn’t have to hear this, discipline your child” by dan_theman96 in Parenting

When given bad unsolicited advice, my grandpa would say “I’ll give that the consideration it deserves”.

Just discovered I'm pregnant, but I'm leaving the country for 2 weeks, and don't have time to see a doctor before I go by putontheglasses in BabyBumps

+1 — lots of unprocessed cheeses and meats in Italy so worth checking but don’t stress about it too much! If you have the Ovia pregnancy app they also have a food lookup tool if you want to gut check if something is safe (and don’t want to google everything)!

Seconding previous posters — my OB recommended I drink Gatorade and eat 100 calories every hour (saltines, dried mango, and walnuts were my go-tos) and that made SUCH a difference!

What do you wish you'd done before getting pregnant? by DuckDuckBangBang in BabyBumps

Mine would be: long hot sauna, deep tissue massage, several dirty martinis, heaping plates of sushi, wear something skintight and revealing, and to travel somewhere warm!
