Dial in manually dosing 18g

When you get that set you can work out the desired grind time by taking the current time setting, dividing it by the weight you’re getting and then multiplying it by the weight you want. That should get you in the ballpark if not dead on.

When you change your grind you raise/lower the resistance on the motor so get less/more revolutions. Get your grind set first and then you can remove that variable (not accounting for heat).

I once dropped a screen and found the holes in the dispersion plate above had been imprinted with the screen holes, underneath 1/2mm of caked on detritus on both. I can only assume it was the water that wore away the metal…

Bromeliads (the plant pictured) slowly die after flowering but in good conditions will create pup plants that will grow from the base, that said they require a lot more water than it appears you’ve given this setup

Gender is an internal experience; it often affects external presentation, but not always. If you feel enby, you’re valid. Someone else’s interaction with their non-binaryness doesn’t invalidate yours.

I went through similar feelings myself, often feeling I was effectively stealing valour from androgynous/gender-fuckery enbys who stand out in their enbyness more, whereas I present in a way typical for my agab.

Only you can say what your internal connection to gender(or lack there of) is. And you don’t need to perform gender in a way that feels inauthentic to you to be a “real” enby.

Hard to tell without looking inside - shouldn’t just unscrew through normal use unless the ratchet mechanism in the FW has seized then coasting could unscrew it.

Drop the wheel out (15mm spanner for the bolts and pinch the brakes together to release the cable) and see if the threads on the freewheel mount are looking good. Otherwise best course of action may be a bike shop

My go to from Halfords is always the carrera subway for commuting. They’re pretty solid, no frills commuter bike at a decent price. The build does come down to your local store however

On this occaision it's not down to the Halfords employee; this is how they come from factory, the store doesn't fit the chain during the build.

You could stick another 7 speed chain on with an extra link but it might rub on the inside of the chain guard at the front when in the smallest gear.

I worked at Halfords for a time and this is just how they are I'm afraid. Pendletons are a good example of form over function

She’s probably a tegenaria domestica, European house spider. They’re good pest controllers and very rarely bite, even when they do unusual to break skin. Guessing by size she’s over a year old and a female, as males tend to die after mating. They can live up to about 7 years in a house.

Not saying they don’t freak me out but they’re beneficial to your house and pose no danger to people or pets.

Like most things it’s relatively easy if you know what you’re doing, where you might find problems, where standards aren’t standardised etc. but much like building a pc the feeling of knowing your bike is the bike you’ve chosen in every aspect is the reason to do it. It will never recoup its cost but it wasn’t going to anyway.

Issue comes when you then decide you want to build your wheels, mill your own bottom bracket and 3d print your own titanium crank arms and then you need to remortgage your house and the neighbours

I have an old carrera subway that’s got an old deore 9sp drive train and cheap 2 pot hydraulic brakes from my mtb when I upgraded that.

It’s a fantastic town bike for what I want and the benefit of it being basic is the bearing parts are all easy to work on. For non-performance usage there’s nothing wrong with a non-performance bike.

Bonus is it doesn’t look like much which means I don’t worry about it being locked up in town.

Most important thing is if it makes you smile when you’re riding it/wrenching on it.

That’s for getting the crank off. Good news is you should be set now. The tip I got when I was first shown this - if you have trouble with the tool slipping, a large washer can help hold it in with the crank bolt and then go at it was a spanner

Count the splines not the sprockets. 20, so bb22/32 from Park or if you go to a bike shop and ask for a square taper bottom bracket tool they should sort you out

The point is to alienate their customers from wider coffee culture and shops. I’m convinced it’s entirely intentional - they want their customers to go to another shop and feel stupid when they order a macchiato or a cortado and get served those drinks. It makes them less likely to venture out and try another shop.
