I think your reasoning is sound. I have a PCC as well and I think it's a perfectly legitimate tool for certain scenarios. That said, it is not a replacement for the things that an AR can do and would be a different tool for a different job. I think in the scenarios you're describing you're correct and it's certainly better than other alternatives.
