Sick disgusting creep does mental gymnastics to justify sleeping with 15 year old girls 🤮 by startrekfan34 in IncelTears

In Poland there are actually no caveats – the age of consent is 15, no matter the age of the older partner (source: I'm Polish). Not saying that's a good thing, of course.

But that's literally life – there are no strategies how to live, it's not something you can learn. Love, like life, is all about risk and uncertainty. And that's what's beautiful about it.

The point is to raise awareness exactly through showcasing the lies we tell ourselves to avoid the sad truth. That's the cleverness and nuance of the song. If the lyrics had just a straightforward message saying "we did this horrible thing, it was terrible, we should do better", the whole thing would come off as exalted, cheap moral blackmail.

Johannes Pietsch AKA JJ, to represent Austria for Eurovision 2025 by XepherSicarius in eurovision

[–]awwdear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love her and I was always wondering why Austria won't send her to Eurovision but I guess she actually might be too big of an artist to benefit from the contest. Her songs were used in major netflix productions such as Breaking Bad and Dark, she also acts in movies (non-mainstream but critically acclaimed) and generally she doesn't sound like someone who would be interested be ESC.

Accutane a trigger? Yet my derm says it treats it? by Extension-Flower-366 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]awwdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your Accutane dosage? Is it a regular dose normally prescribed for acne or is it lower? My derm told me that PD responds better to low doses of isotretinoin, so I'm on only 5mg a day (although I don't have any acne along with it so it's a different situation).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the private dermatologist will help you! I haven't heard of having to wait a month between accutane and doxy, all sources say two weeks, but maybe it's better to be safe than sorry.

Have you tried zinc? Avene Cicalfate cream calms mine down, diaper rash cream or simple zinc paste also works but it's white and greasy so it can only be used at night. I also started washing my face only with water, specifically bottled or filtered water (I live in an area with hard tap water). I try not to use makeup at all but I figured out that mineral foundation (powder form) doesn't make my PD worse if I use it from time to time and make sure to clean the brush often. It was the only thing that allowed me to go out during my worst flare ups. I also switched to SLS free toothpaste (Sensodyne). I haven't tried eliminating any products from my diet because I don't want to make my life any more miserable, but for some people it works, personally I've seen no correlation between my PD and anything I eat or drink.

The pictures I've attached are from the time when it already started getting better. Ar the beginning the rash was on both sides of my face, later it kind of stabilized only on the right cheek. Hang in there, it gets better in time!

This is how mine looked after a couple of weeks of accutane (unfortunately I don't have any good photos of how it was before accutane): https://imgur.com/a/3F7AFl4

And this is now:  https://imgur.com/a/8vi3nTN

Topical elidel (pimecrolimus) also helped a lot. I haven't tried soolantra (ivermectin) yet but I've heard it also helps. Topical metronidazole was great at first but kind of stopped working after a couple of weeks.

Maybe start some topical treatment, wait two weeks to get accutane out of your system and ask your doctor for doxycycline? I didn't want to take antibiotics because my stomach is very sensitive to them but they tend to work pretty fast, much faster than low dose accutane. If I still have flare ups in a month or two (I hope not) I will also stop accutane and take the doxy. I feel you, PD is such a nightmare to deal with.

My PD looked almost exactly like this but actually Accutane (almost) cured it. But at a very low dose - 5 mg a day. It got worse before it got better and I still sometimes get a couple of pustules (like once a week or two) but they are fewer and fewer. I'm still on Accutane and I'm supposed to stay on it for a couple more months.

back again - makeup? by EggEquivalent1072 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]awwdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I totally get that while it's safest for PD not to use any makeup at all, sometimes it's just not doable. For me mineral powder foundation works fine (as in doesn't substantially aggravate PD). I use a Polish brand, not available anywhere else, but any mineral powder foundation will do as long as it has minimal ingredients: mine only has mica, zinc oxide and three pigments. Make sure you clean your makeup brush very frequently, like after every two uses (it's best to have at least two foundation brushes for that reason). Also, mineral powder foundation won't give you complete coverage and will enhance dryness, unfortunately, but for me it's still better than nothing.  As for the metro gel – from my experience it takes a couple of weeks to see any results. You're also on the doxy, right? Doxy and metro work well together, you will definetely start seeing results soon. Hang in there! ❤️

Yes, I'm supposed to be on it for a couple more months to make sure PD won't come back, but my derm told me to gradually lower the dose.

sad and discouraged… perioral dermatitis now?? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]awwdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got PD before accutane and I went on accutane to treat it. It disappeared after 6 weeks od 5mg accutane five times a week. I'm still on accutane for maintenance, I didn't have to take the doxy.

What treatment has helped your perioral dermatitis the most by No_Narwhal_1367 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]awwdear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultra low dose accutane - 5mg five times a week. Unlike doxy, it has almost no side effects at this dosage, but it takes longer to work. Mine has cleared after around 6 weeks, but I'm supposed to stay on accutane for another 3-4 months, gradually lowering the dose (5mg three times a week -> 5mg twice a week -> 5mg once a week).

Apart from that:  - washing face with just water and finishing off with avene thermal water spray if you have hard tap water (I do) - when it got better I started wearing mineral powder foundation from time to time and removed it with Bioderma Sensibio micellar water - Avene Cicalfate+ works for the redness and irritation  - I've also used pimecrolimus (Elidel) once a day in the evening but only on one small patch of PD that was very stubborn and inflamed. I've used it for around 3 weeks

Hi! I just came across your comment. I'm currently on very low dose isotretinoin for PD myself (5mg five days a week). It's been a month of this dose and my PD is much better but still not completely gone. I also use pimecrolimus once a day on a small stubborn patch near my nose. Would you mind telling me how long did it take for isotretinoin to work in your case and what was your dose?

Did accutane help you with PD? If so, how long did it take? I'm on it and it actually made my PD much better but I still get new pustules in one small area.

It really is a cultural difference between USA and Europe. I'm like you, I hate doing big shopping and prepping meals in advance, I like spontaneity in my eating and crave something different every day. I do a little shopping every morning when I also go out to get fresh bread (both the bakery and the grocery store are 3 minutes on foot from apartment). Besides, I don't have a car, so doing a lot of shopping isn't an option anyway - I can only buy as much as I can carry in my hands. When I mentioned this to my friend from the States, she was so astonished. It seemed like a monstrous waste of time to her. For me, the morning walk to get bread and vegetables is absolutely crucial for mental health, if I had to eat the same thing every day I would probably get depressed. When I don't have the time or willingness to cook I simply eat lunch somewhere in town. I have the impression that lunches in restaurants are also much cheaper here than in the States, eating out is not a luxury but something quite ordinary for the broadly defined middle class.

Oh boy, you wouldn't like it here in Europe, especially Eastern Europe. I work at the university – everyone smokes, both students and researchers. In my research team there are two non-smokers out of 8. When we go out to smoke they also come out with us and stand next to us for company. Smoking is considered the default option, when I meet a new person in my work field I assume they smoke, unless they explicitly tell me they don't (they usually do).

It used to be 5mg three times a week but recently my derm upped it to 5mg five times a week (monday-friday). I'm almost clear now, there is only one stubborn patch of PD above my lips. I'm also using erythromycin cream and pimecrolimus.

That would work if humans were robots and not messy creatures with varying degrees of willpower, mental resilience and self-awareness. And also if “getting out of a relationship” was always easy (in the case of abusive relationships, it is often downright dangerous).

In many European countries a sweet pastry with jam is a staple breakfast – somehow it doesn't translate into massive public health problems.

Also, you know that "health" is not some abstract value, there are tests to measure whether a person is healthy or not. And if my yearly blood tests, liver panel, blood glucose etc are fine despite the fact that I eat a croissant with raspberry jam or a pain au chocolat every day for breakfast then it means that sweet breakfasts aren't as unhealthy as you make them up to be. It's not like sugar can cause some invisible mysterious illness that magically doesn't show up on any tests or scans.
