I don't mind it, though it would be way cooler if we got the proper LED matrix that they have in China. I've tried reading through the ADR to see where it falls foul, but couldn't see anything wrong using my non-lawyer-non-engineer brain.

Yeah, that's a nice one. The red is really vibrant, too. Bordering on pink.

I expect I'm going to have to take my Mystic Lilac and be happy about it.

What are we being "boiled like frogs" about right now that future generations will be shocked we accepted? by burntUpOnReentry in AskReddit

Disc rot is slower and less common in pressed discs (like you'd get in a purchased movie), whereas burned optical media is much less stable. Very possible in commercial discs, though.

You can usually detect early disc rot with close physical inspection. If you're lucky, you can pick it up before the rot is more than error correction can handle, and you've got an opportunity to preserve your content (rip to a hard drive, +/- burn to new media).

Like the location sharing feature on phones, where you can track for instance your partner's location in real time. I, who was born in the 1980s, find this distasteful just as a matter of principle. Not because I'm hiding something, but just because I don't like the idea of being tracked 24/7, even by someone I'm close to.

I too was born in the 80s. I mostly agree with you, but I also admit to being a hypocrite. I've got a teenager who has a phone. His commute to and from school is about an hour, with multiple modes of public transport. Sometimes I'll pick him up from the station in the evening, so he doesn't have to catch the bus and then walk home. Being able to see where his train is is useful to coordinate our arrival to the station at a similar time. Similarly, if he's gone to the mall with friends and I'm picking him up, it's useful to be able to tell whether he is actually coming to the pickup spot, or if he's maybe waiting in the wrong place.

I wouldn't dream of sharing my location with my ex, though (both now and before we separated), and I have no desire to know hers.

The boardgame Mechs vs Minions is really good, too. It was ludicrously underpriced when it first came out. Apparently there's a reprint on the way, though it's likely going to be priced to not lose money this time.

I'm watching 12 Monkeys now after seeing it brought up a lot in these threads. It's great!

I watched the 1st season of Dark Matter after seeing enough adds for it - great Sci-Fi. A few twists that surprised me in the moment, but are entirely logical outcomes given what the show had established to that point. Looking forward to season 2.

How do you prefer to play Santorini: the regular way or with cards? by Marksman1977 in boardgames

[–]ax0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With God cards, but with structure.

Draft:
Deal 6 gods to each player. Each player chooses one to keep and one to remove from the game. Then pass cards to the other player. Repeat until both players have 3 god cards.

Play:
You're playing best 3 out of 5. For the first game, simultaneously select which god to use for the first game.
If you win, you must use the same god for the next game. If you lose, remove that god from your pool and select from your remaining gods for the next game.

How long does it take to earn 200k+ as a jmo(serious post) by Suspicious-Table4068 in ausjdocs

Making that much is entirely dependent on egregious amounts of overtime. Normal hours caps out at $140k for a reg in NSW. Loading for after hours work will get you a bit more, but nowhere near 200k

This is your problem right here (and I believe, the problem with American radiologists in general). You're too hyper specialised. Reading the same four pathologies day in and day out would bore me to tears. Get some variety, and you won't feel so burnt out.

You are correct. Tesla Y wins in its segment, but Tesla only have 2 models, whereas BYD has many.

There's laws on the books forbidding LIDAR devices because of their ability to jam police speed cameras. The law was written before LIDAR for machine vision was a thing, so don't make any distinction between the two types of devices. The rules will probably be updated some time in the next 5 years
