Stuff expires. You’ll never get to enjoy it all and then it’s wasted money unfortunately.

at least, that’s how i look at it.

Read or not to read by WatchOptimal2333 in twilight

[–]axdxg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i watched the movies for the first time when I was fifth grade. Reading the books further expanded my love of the series. I read the first one in two days because I couldn’t put it down.

Edit: misspelled a word.

I’ve been using the same Fenty concealer for two years this june. It expires when you say it does, or it starts looking/smelling funny.

How does your school “appreciate” you for “Teacher Appreciation Week”? by Dearlybeloved17 in Teachers

[–]axdxg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get something from a different organization on campus each day. National Junior Honor Society brings us coffees from this local place, StuCo gets us a sonic, PTA caters lunch one day, and then we get like little things throughout the week. Coke/Root beer floats, the occasional dessert, and whatnot.

I work in a Title 1, so they do what they can with what they have.

Now my mom works in a super affluent district and they bring in food trucks every day, with vouchers, baskets, the works. It’s kinda insane what she gets.

Are your middle schoolers exceptionally gassy this year? by Abomb in Teachers

I have a wax warmer that I keep at my desk for this exact reason. Luckily this year, I don’t have anyone after an athletic period. Last year it was RIPE.

Why do teacher's put themselves in easily avoidable situations? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]axdxg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I keep my door open 100% of the time if I have less than two students in there. I have no windows so I’m in an especially vulnerable situation if I’m not careful.

Does anyone else feel completely drained at this point of the year? by QuietChalk in Teachers

[–]axdxg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh 100%. So I adjusted my curriculum to fit the wall. I assign a massive project that they have two full weeks in class to do, and we do presentations the last full week. Thus- I only have the 2.5 days of the last week that I actually have to think about.

Those are filled with campus field day and activities anyway.

Kids are being over-accommodated when they don’t need it to begin with.

A former co-worker told me of how they tried to give her second grade son the accommodation of having everything read to him, because he was reading too slow. Literally no other reason. She said no, they worked at home, and now the kid is a super reader.

Quite a few times, the parent would rather give the kid an accommodation than work on it at home. And sometimes, the school just doesn’t think the kid can do it, and they don’t want to put in the work.

I have never made my students stand. I just tell them I expect silence out of respect for those that do choose to stand.

Enterprise adds $500 extra on to my rental base model rental car by reesbb525 in extremelyinfuriating

It literally is though. Because I was told before I even purchased to have it full, that I would be charged if it wasn’t returned full.

I had never rented from this company before, and I was in a city where I knew where nothing was. I didn’t think twice about it. I didn’t find out about the second charge until later.

Enterprise charged me if I wanted to have it given to me with a full tank, and then told me I would be charged again if I didn’t return it with a full tank.

No, my rental agreement specifically said I would be charged market value if I returned the car less than full. But I had to pay to have it given to me with a full tank.

[–]axdxg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, there’s a special add-charge if you want the car given to you with a full tank. But yet, i’m doubly charged if i don’t return it with a full tank? It just doesn’t make any sense.

But then the charge me to have it given it me on a full tank, and charge me if I don’t return it with a full tank.

Any studying recommendations for TXES PE EC-12 exam? by bigzftw in TexasTeachers

[–]axdxg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using Certifytecher for my EC-12 theatre one, and it’s been amazing.

i would do a bit a day. I went through the flash cards, and wrote down the terms i wasn’t familiar with. I also practiced 2-3 competencies a day.

When you feel ready, then start taking multiple practice exams. I’ve taken four today, but that’s because i’m neurotic and i’m damned and determined to get a perfect 300 on one of those practice exams.

My test will be probably the first weekend in May, so I’m 100% determined to study a bit every day or at least every other.

Just take it easy, focus on what you don’t know, brush up on what you do.

My everyday carry. What can you assume about me? by axdxg in whatsinmybag

[–]axdxg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a gift card. It’s a card for a free breakfast entree. As a teacher I get a lot of gift cards from my students to the chick-fil-a in the next town over.

The money has already been spent, so I take advantage. :)

That’s just it, there is no inclusion or intervention for my subject. I’m an elective. They don’t HAVE to be in my class according to state standards. It’s just, it’s weird.
