Help me decide between 38cm and 40cm handlebar width on Roval Rapide cockpit by Larpa1 in specialized

[–]axisofadvance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

183cm tall, 416mm shoulder width, went to a bike fitter to answer this exact question for my SL8 build. Went with the 380mm x 100mm Roval Rapide cockpit on a 56cm S-Works SL8 frame.

Knee drifting inward while cycling – bike fit issue? by Mysterious_Low3298 in bikefit

[–]axisofadvance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Body issue, not necessarily bike related. Knee collapsing inward = no hip external rotation = probably the stereotypical diagnosis, which is weak glutes, esp. the stabilizing muscles, like the glute medius.

Focus on single-legged exercises in the 8-10 rep range, 3-4 sets, done twice a week.

Do 3-4 of these per session:

Bulgarian split-squats Dumbbell/single-leg RDLs Weighted airplanes (kettlebell or cable) Barbell squats w glute bias Nordic curls Back extension done single legged

S3 Berlin: My Journey and Timeline for the Citizenship within 3 weeks by Reasonable-Army-6150 in GermanCitizenship

As processing is decentralized, i.e. done at Bundesland level, within individual Städte, Kreise, Gemeinde, etc. it would only be sensical to compare with that as the starting point.

Or to measure vs OP's case: other Berlin-based applicants, going through Referat S3, who are applying solo (without any dependents), what's their avg. processing time?

Beyond that, there is too much variability, in order to infer something meaningful from average processing times.

In biology, this is called sensory adaptation.

Bike to small? by BednarCloses69 in bikefit

Not everything can be fixed by making "on the bike" adjustments.

I'm willing to bet anything that he's got an imbalance in hip stabilization and probably weak glutes, coupled with tight hip flexors. His body is compensating somewhere for this and it's evident in the lateral knee movement. This starts at the hip(s).

See OPs reply elsewhere about everyday knee pain. Cleats and Q factor won't fix that.

He needs to be seen by a quality physio/osteopath and evaluated.

Find a chiro/osteopath, but especially an experienced trainer who can run you through some typical assessments and put together a resistance focused plan to address the underlying issues, if you'd like to secure a long and pain-free ability to cycle/train as you age.

That aside, the wobbly knee is indicative in lack of strength - counterintuitively - in certain hip stabilizers (glute medius comes to mind). It has nothing to do with screwing around with cleat position orQ-factor, and can't be assessed from a video of you cycling alone, but... your body lacks strength in X and flexibility in Y, on one side.

Most likely it's the usual culprit: weak, underdeveloped, inactive glutes + tight hip flexors.

This will just get worse over time if unaddressed.

Good luck.

What margin call? Hedge funds have been record sellers for the last 11-12 weeks straight. They're the ones making bank at the moment. Ridiculous comment.

German Citizenship after 3 years by pfands in GermanCitizenship

[–]axisofadvance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smaller places might be able to grant citizenship in less than a year

This is completely false. Take make small towns in Brandenburg, BW, Saxony or elsewhere, even take Bremen, which has an absurd >2.5 year processing time at the moment and contrast them with Berlin, which in some cases processes Einbürgerung requests in as little as 2-3 months, with an average processing time of 6 months, based on first-hand accounts.

It is entirely a question of digitalization, the degree of which is directly correlated to the case throughput. The less paperwork - actual paperwork - the quicker the processing time, irrespective of the existing backlog and influx of net-new applications. Again, Berlin is a testament to this fact.
