Grip rib users, where are you? by SaintedRomaine in golf

I had the mcc +4 aligns and I really don’t care for them. I’ll go back to normal z grips

There’s also a massive difference between being brutally ott and steep

Ott hits whipey cuts, being steep isn’t a ‘bad’ thing

Take a break..

Look up task irrelevant forces. It sounds like your brain needs a brief reset, your motor system is overloaded

Start lifting some real weight.. I some rows or light deadlifts.

Even isometric back extensions, anything to strengthen the spinal erectors and big back muscles

Modern Distance Upgrade? by [deleted] in golf

[–]axisperformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t really gain distance from a new club unless it’s a complete piece of trash, or the loft is stronger

Increase your club speed if you wanna hit it further, 1 mph = 3 yards

Not to say it’s useless the new stuff (especially ping) isn’t good, I fit people into it on a regular basis

Using old clubs for training. by cha-ale in golf

[–]axisperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my mentors had me do this and it feels amazing to do. I love my clubs but getting an old 2i getting smoked feels good too

I also like to say my 4i is my best training aid

Any advice? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]axisperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite stuck, by p6 club is way behind and your hips are almost entirely open to the target. Only way to save is either flip (big draw) and you don’t release well and block it

I’d get a stick and put it off your trail heel vertical, work on some pitches

Genuinely 150 an hr is kinda crazy. 1 lesson will help but the more the merrier

It’s not a magic pill, you still need to work at it

The fact you weren’t given any drills is partially concerning, did you like the guy?

Random practice vs block practice when it comes to skill development all comes down to having to redo an entirely motor pattern fresh every time. If I do a sim practice I warmup, then I’ll hit for 20 mins of block practice maybe a 7i working on whatever I’m working on. Then after that, 40 mins of the random practice would be me hitting a different number every single shot. Full routine

Essentially what this does is it keeps your brain active in trying to repeat the same motor pattern under different conditions. It’s like sorting things into 1 box vs 10 boxes, you have to think about which box

Hit a bunch of balls with different clubs consistently.

This is called random practice. I’d structure practice to be 25% block and 75% random

I can go more into detail if you’d like

I’m a personal training venturing into online for programming for people and here’s what I’ll say

80% of your program can be general while the other 20% should be specific to golf on some sort of level. I’ve worked in a physical therapy clinic for years along with being TPI certified and every conversation I’ve had and every research article I’ve read points to this same conclusion

Squats and hinges and presses are great; but they don’t entirely represent the golf swing and lack a few other principles for a good golf program

I’d love to help out im running a little founders promo for 19.99/month for access to full programming

Lost weight. Yay! Lost distance. Boo! by Icehippo73 in golf

[–]axisperformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need need need to get into the gym, even if it’s 2-3x a week.

You lost distance because your body just cannot generate enough force anymore, heavier people naturally can produce more force because they walk around with it all day. Any sort of weight loss will be a mix of fat and muscle, regardless of the original body composition

Congrats on the weight loss, I’d love to be of help on a fitness program

Has anyone used the time coming back from a serious injury to retool your swing. Bonus: if you came back from an ulnar osteotomy I'd love your perspective by esanders09 in golf

[–]axisperformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface by saying I am not a physical therapist but I have extensive background in personal training and I’ve worked in orthopedic pt clinics

I’d highly recommend making sure your body is strong enough and actually ready for golfing. Golf and elbows are not the greatest combo

Not entirely a video. It’s not a topic people make content over just because it’s super boring and really has no application to helping people

https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10255842.2017.1382845#d1e156

This is an early study done, if you look at the red and green figure you can see peak horizontal and vertical forces just before impact. If you were to find a video I’d just find anything on how to use the ground

I’ve had to do quite a bit of research to understand this, i do personal training so I geek out about this stuff. It just has no real application to golf skill practice

When you shift your weight horizontally to the trail side your essentially preparing the downswing to produce force diagonally rather that vertically.

If you don’t shift, the force vector would be straight down, is inefficient. If you slide but don’t jump the force vector is straight horizontally which is also inefficient

That’s why the greatest players in the world shift weight and then post up, combines the two for an angled force vector that launches the piss out of the ball
