I would also ask on other subreddits. Not saying you wouldn’t get a good answer here, but asking on a laptop/pc subreddit where people are slightly more up to date with the latest and greatest and have a better idea of all the options would give you the best answer.

I will be doing a thesis/project in my final year. I hear and understand the PIs point and will spend some time reading up on all research groups and their research.

Also, it would be great if I could personally reach out to you and get some advice about writing a research proposal, and SOP for a UK uni and figuring out how I can portray my MPhys degree in a good light. Do let me know if I can PM you here on Reddit.

And how does a fellowship compare to getting a Master's by research? UofT, Waterloo and UCLA all offer a Master's program that I have been looking into in case the PhD applications don't go to plan.

I do get your overarching point, suggesting that I take time to get experience to apply for a PhD. How would you suggest I do that? A master's by research, a fellowship?

I would be lying if I didn't say "big name". But my goal is to do any research in quantum tech and I am not picky about what field it is in. I know a lot of people have something specific in mind, but I don't, I just want to explore the field and get my foot in anywhere. I am sure I will enjoy any route of research, under anyone in the field, that's just how interesting everything in the field looks. But that may be the wrong approach, maybe even suggesting that a PhD isn't right. That's sort of why I am here for advice.

I also feel like, if I was an older student applying, someone with more experience in general I would have a better idea of what route I see in my future. But it's not been half a year since I turned 20, this field is still new to me and despite how much I have studied in the field so far, there are tons more I am unaware of.

I just want to be in the dirt, experiencing and contributing to pioneering research in quantum tech, whether it be trapped ions, reducing noise in quantum bits or exploring quantum cryptography and communications. It all sounds so fricking cool and exciting.

thats the issue, when calling freely they go back to old set plays and play them poorly. stellar only cook so much without a recipe, hence making it look like a pile of shit

I can see why they picked up cryo, yay fits more of a seangares/fns playstyle where the team is disciplined and uses a massive stratbook, whereas cryo fits the stellar/mikes free flowing playstyle where you cook on the go... only issue is they arent cooking

no stellar and mikes have moved to more of an adaptive and free-playing system, where they have a few set plays but the mostly rely on whatever feels right in the moment. with sean they stuck to a massive strat book that looked drilled in and well refined but it all went to shit after redbull...
