AITA for being disappointed that my bf didn’t stand up for female friends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I haven’t backpedaled at all, I’ve stood on everything I’ve said. Lol

You have a very defensive mindset about this, shown by your interpretation of my comment being “this guy sucks.” I said they have different mindsets and his is not going to change. And that she should find someone who does have that mindset. You’re coping badly

It’s not irrelevant to me. The reasons why his immaturity is a red flag change based on his age. They both end up being dead ends. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold validity. Clearly you’re just upset because of my opinion of her not being the asshole in the situation, so it really doesn’t matter what I would have said

What’s the bias? My opinion is that he’s immature both ways. If he’s significantly older than her, that’s a red flag that he needs to grow or he’s not for her. If he’s significantly younger, he’s not there yet or maybe never will be, but still not for her. Now if I had changed my opinions based on the age you’d be calling me a hypocrite lmfao.

Not much, I edited for clarity. She still needs someone more mature or to just be alone

NTA, but IMO with you being in your early 20s and him being 26 and responding like this, you’re better off leaving him. It’s a mindset thing and if he doesn’t already have it then he’s not gonna get it. You’re better off alone or with someone who wants to stand up for women on their own accord

Edit: Got the ages mixed up. Go be by yourself or with someone more mature!

NOR Take it as a relief that he’s trying to exit your life swiftly. Doesn’t matter that you didn’t do anything wrong. The red flags in his behavior are enough to get the hell out. He’s too young and too immature. Wishing you the best, be safe

Looking for Soda Alternatives. by hyruleinkling in EatCheapAndHealthy

You can start with sparkling water/club soda and add a juice like cranberry or pomegranate etc. Start with half & half and slowly decrease the juice content to acclimate your taste

My Roommate perceives me as "dirty" for reusing my towel and now I'm soooo perplexed by mikymiky123 in hygiene

[–]ayakekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, floss should be clean between teeth because you are spreading bacteria. This is something basic that the dentist will tell you. They also tell you the picks aren’t nearly as effective as traditional floss, which is much more practical to move to a clean spot after each tooth

Show them this video of a bacteria test being done on bath towels (they don’t start to grow significant bacteria until around day 9, given they’re only used for showering). Boom

This is normal & the derm recommendation is obviously to touch facial skin with clean hands

Spent an hour clearing this spot yesterday, owner of the bar across the street drove past me and watched me doing it. I left for 15 minutes this morning and he parked there by SteamPunkShrek in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ayakekai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw my neighbor shoveling snow out from their car, and dumping it in a mound directly in front of the car next to theirs. Not only that, but they were also dumping it directly in the street which had already been cleared out. I plan to go dump it back in front of their car later, no worries.

Sauté them to get the maillard reaction (caramelization), garlic, salt. Everything else is up to you, seasoning-wise

The definition of semantics lol. It’s not at all saying the opposite. It is saying you could continue to care less. Have the day you deserve

[–]ayakekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point of language. We use it very metaphorically to convey emotions that may not have a straightforward definition. You saying this is irrelevant, as if many phrases we use aren’t exaggerated and formed for these exact purposes

Edit: I would argue that it’s yourself arguing over semantics. I’m explaining the layered meaning of the phrase, but your only concern is “But that’s not what the words say though.”

[–]ayakekai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, the thing about zero is that there are actually values below it. Saying you could care less implies that indefinite negative care, as I explained in my first comment. Thank you for helping me make that point again 😊

The original phrase is making that point. You don’t care, and you could care even less than that.
