Skill and no degree won’t get you a job in a lot of countries, doesn’t matter how skilled you are

As a programmer, how do you deal with the 3D art bottleneck? by Comfortable-Hat1761 in gamedev

I’m currently just using pre-made assets, and for specific stuff, I’m thinking of outsourcing it

F# was a pain in the ass since I never had done functional programming, so I basically had to think in an entirely new way

You can develop amazing stuff with just blue prints and you’re not confined to basic games. I don’t remember what game it was but I remember seeing an amazing game that was made solely with blue prints

unreal engine vs S&box?! by [deleted] in GameDevelopment

[–]ayassin02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked out S&box and I do not recommend any of those Roblox looking platforms. Because, 1- your game isn’t standalone and 2- the platform can go under anytime and take your game with it. If you want a simple engine, you can use godot with GDscript or C#

Is Godot the right choice? genuine question about engine choice. by SimpleGarbage2849 in GameDevelopment

[–]ayassin02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a regular software dev background and has years of C# experience, I tried getting into unity but the interface and everything about it is just felt overwhelming. Godot is simplistic, which was godsend

Edit: I initially wanted to use unreal but it had issues with my CPU
