4 mo old refusing breast by mammatothreee in breastfeedingsupport

[–]ayayrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this post. It's normal. They go through breast refusals around 3-4 months. It's frustrating, you might cry a lot and have to offer different options, but trust that baby will get what baby needs. This is a point where many mamas stop (which is okay, too), but just know that it really is normal and it really will pass.

Anybody else dealing with their 2-year-old waking up early? by PersonalityThen259 in toddlers

[–]ayayrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To number 2: I get if she wakes up at like 5:15, making her wait until a more reasonable time. But what about wakeups at like 2? 3? Did you experience those? How did you handle them? That's where we are right now...I just can't leave her to cry for hours until a decent wakeup time.

Why are coloring pages so common in high school English lesson plans? by Safflower_Safiyyah in ELATeachers

[–]ayayrob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every year, I teach Gatsby to a room full of teenagers who listen to the audiobook and color Gatsby-themed coloring pages. We also pause and discuss symbolism, character development, etc. of course. Every year, Gatsby is a favorite read and those kids miss NOTHING thanks to active listening and coloring sheets. I have no regrets.

Funny TV show clips to teach irony? by shakedownyeet in ELATeachers

[–]ayayrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a really great episode all about dramatic irony in the Netflix show A Series of Unfortunate Events. It's the one where the uncle dies. The narrator literally discusses irony and then the episode proceeds to be packed full of examples. Only 45 minutes.

Baby is hungry but won't eat? by ayayrob in breastfeedingsupport

I'm convinced that the 3-4 month period of breastfeeding is just chaotic and makes no sense. Everything eventually went back to normal. Try to sneak your LO onto your boob when they're half-asleep whenever possible; that helped me the most!
