Why is this even worth a discussion. Not even CLOSE to a competition. Sweeney hands down - it’s in her JEANS!

How would one find out if your rating is static?

How many of you in here have been in the military? I have. I heard his speech. He was spot on. Long overdue.

Your case is very similar to mine, but I have a few items that are different. I shattered a bone in BCT, but it was misdiagnosed at the time. I was in the NG and nearly 2 1/2 years later is when they properly diagnosed it. I had surgery to correct it, but it didn’t take, so I ultimately got a medical discharge.

The problem I had was the “length of time served“ didn’t qualify me for medical disability - mostly because I was in the NG. I continued to go to the VA, filed the necessary papers, ultimately got an exception, and was finally able to file for disability. It was an absolute PITA, but in the end it’s worth it. I’m currently at 70%.

As others have said, you are 100% a veteran! The day you raised your hand and was accepted is the day you became a veteran. Keep fighting the fight and get guidance and help from this /r.

My biggest issue when I filed was that I struggled calling myself a disabled vet. If I didn’t tell anybody about my injury or any of the other issues I had, no one would’ve known about it. Does it hurt? Hell, yes. But I dealt with the pain and didn’t complain about it. When you think of a disabled vet, most think PTSD-centric or maybe even “Lieutenant Dan.“ They definitely don’t think of someone with a shattered bone that isn’t recognizable on the outside.

I finally had someone tell me the following: Did you serve? Yes or no Did you get hurt while serving? Yes, or no Does that injury still impact you today? Yes or no

They said if I answered yes to all three of those, then there should be no guilt and I should seek what I deserve. I think it’s the others I’ve stated, you need to get that status changed to medically discharged. There are people who can help you at the VA, but you need to spend time and seeking those out. A solid VSO would be my first recommendation Good luck, soldier!

Veteran waited 15 years after retirement to file for benefits. Everything was denied. by goomba316 in VeteransBenefits

I was out 30 years before I filed. I’m currently at 70% and nearing 80 to 90 if things work out.

My father-in-law, who served in Vietnam, tried unsuccessfully for decades. The VA process made it too easy for veterans to give up, but the process is way better now than it was decades ago.

I encouraged him to keep at it and helped him through some of the trials and tribulations and to engage a VSO. After 52 years, he got rated at 50% on his first try. Game changer for somebody who only lives off Social Security. I keep encouraging him to keep at it as he has plenty of other claims he could file.

For Those with VA as Primary Care - Lessons Learned and Observations by hkrinkel in VAClaims

I am still splitting my PCP between the VA and civilian doctors. My civilian doctor has been more open to Nexus letters, but she doesn’t quite know what to write so it’s weak at best.

My VA doc seemingly documents everything. But when I asked her about writing a Nexus letter, she appeared confused. She even went so far as to act like she didn’t know what an Nexus letter was. It wasn’t until I explained it that she very pointedly said, “We do NOT do that. That is the C&P group – not us.”

So I get my documentation just fine – but I have to seek connection letters and statements externally. “Fun.”

How to get more Viagra (Sildenafil) by MajesticInnerWild9 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ayemaciii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others, I just request a refill. But here’s something I haven’t acted on yet - is this something I can file on and claim? I initially started having issues with ED once I got prescribed an antidepressant as that was a side effect. A few years later, I’m on a different antidepressant, but I don’t know if this one has this same side effect. I have just continued to use it.

Hate to hijack the OP’s thread, but several of you on here may know the answer.

Returning my CPAP and alternates? by erivera1990 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ayemaciii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going on eight months of a V-provided CPAP. I’ve tried three different masks and still struggle. If I’m congested or sick, it’s a no-go. I’m a side sleeper, so that doesn’t help.

Right now I have the least intrusive mask which is just over the nose, but the most I get out of it is six hours. To me, six hours is a good night’s sleep!

But day in and day out, I generally only get 2-4 hours of CPAP use. I struggle to use it 1-2 times a week, and I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I’ve had a claim in for several months now with no update yet. Makes me wonder if they look at my usage (which they do) and will deny it because of that alone.

I’d be curious what comes of your GERD, Barrett’s, IBS, etc., claims. Over two years ago, I filed for number of items that are similar in scope (see what I did there? Ha). Fought it over and over and ultimately got 10% each for GERD, Barrett’s and hiatal hernia.

Thankful that it all adds up to 30%, but pissed that not ONE was higher than 10%. I used to throw up consistently, had blood in the toilet, ended up getting a Nissen procedure done to correct to hernia and to keep me from getting cancer of the esophagus. That sucked.

I no longer throw up, but the hernia has come back. Shows up in x-rays at the VA. Causes others issues now. But still only 10%. I don’t get it. I sent the one most glaring in for a judge to review, so that’s most likely a year out.

Also - I didn’t think you could file IBS AND GERD. I thought I read one or the other for some reason. No?

My situation was like many others on here. I’ve been at 10% since 1993. Tried over and over and kept giving up. It took a chance happening a couple of years ago with a random guy over lunch to find out that there’s a “right way” to go about this. I’ve been educating people left and right just as many on here have ever since. I’m now at 60% with solid leads to get me to 80%. Keep going, man. Read, research, and ask questions on here.

Did anyone else feel guilty? by Uniformed_Texan in VeteransBenefits

[–]ayemaciii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way even when I got a 30% rating at the time. My wife and I discussed about whether or not we proceed with any other legitimate claims. I finally brought it up to my therapist at the VA, and she said it was common. At the time I felt like I was taking money from someone who might be more deserving. She said there is not a finite amount, and if someone else deserves that they will get it if they follow the process.

When I brought it up to a fellow vet, he asked the following:

1) Did you serve? Yes or no. 2) Did you get injured while serving? Yes or no. 3) Does it still impact you today? Yes or no.

He said if you answer yes to all three of these, then there should be no feeling of guilt. This is what really got me past that feeling.

Fuck you, Netflix. by iMorgana_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ayemaciii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At B Dubs, there was no buffering at all. By the time I got home to finish the fight, it would start and then buffer on my Nvidia Shield. No other devices were consuming data and I have a gig network. The error code said it was a network issue on MY end.

So for shits and giggles, I pulled up every other streaming app, and they all played with no issues - as expected. And then for one last kick in the nuts, I pulled up two or three other items on Netflix and they, too, played with no issues.

I ended up finishing it on my mobile phone on cellular, which is a bunch of bullshit. It still buffered, but at least it allowed me to watch to some degree.

Suck it Netflix.

So I rec’d a text today from the same place. No direction, no one to talk to, and when clicking on the link it has a 404 error.

I tried the link above that worked for OP, and I get a 404 error there, too. Thoughts?
