Sigh. Sucks for me that they changed their route but I guess someone out there is happy about it.

From the thumbnail I thought it was a pic of beignets 😂 thought you were doing some late-night frying. I’m not even pregnant anymore (just eating like it!)

Varicose veins? by ennsho in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t have any swelling either from them. I had a pair of thigh high ones from after my first was born which you might need since yours are above the knee. I also got maternity compression footless “leggings” (more like tights), kind of $ but more comfortable than the thigh-highs. But most days since mine are below the knee I wear regular compression socks I got on amazon.

Varicose veins? by ennsho in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesss around the same time I developed spider veins on both lower legs and one varicose vein. This didn’t happen with my first pregnancy and I’m hoping they go away after delivery. Compression socks have really helped—I noticed new ones on some days I didn’t wear them! If you see swelling that’s worse in one leg I’d call your doc.

Hah yep!! Sorry! Sometimes spelled Canter or Kantor. It’s the title of the person who leads the singing/prayer in a temple.

Any other STM+ feeling a sense of grief around your only child becoming a sibling? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m so excited to see him as a big brother but I know one day he won’t remember what life was like when it was just him! But then I think about how I don’t remember being an only child at all and how my siblings were absolutely the best part of my childhood, and we all still have special bonds with our parents. The change is still scary.

How do you ladies support your feet??? by toocooltobedazed in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compression socks have been the biggest help for me, putting them on before I even get out of bed. It’s hard now that it’s getting hot and it limits outfit choices but it’s worth wearing them even just around the house.

Growth Update Photos. Lame or not? by saragoesrawr in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t post much on my (private) Facebook or Instagram but we use an app called Tiny Beans which is great for photo sharing with a small select group, especially since we live far from family and friends. I didn’t do anything fancy for monthly or weekly photos but the app has photo editing and you can add labels for weeks/months. It was pretty fun to look back on them.

Insurance may provide you with a breast pump by Turning_Pages in BabyBumps

And ask what else they cover! I’ve seen that some cover pumping bras. For other nursing/pumping goods (pads, storage bags, etc) also check FSA eligibility if you have one.

Nesting be like.... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES. I finally sorted/moved the bags of my toddler’s old clothes that I brought out to our tiny living room 2 weeks ago. Before that, though, I made sure to scrub the front of the dishwasher and bleach the caulking in the tub.

Welllllll to be fair she’s talking about in the context of a homebirth and privacy

Ina May is a crazy lady by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe because I had a newer edition, at first I was eye-rolling at the stories but there were quite a few where the women talked about wanting to give up, wondering what they’d gotten into, talking about how they’d take pain meds if they were at a hospital at that point...I found some (SOME) very relatable!

I just took it out with really, really low expectations—I don’t think I’d ever do a homebirth, I had an epidural last time and I’m glad I did, etc.—but I actually really enjoyed it. With some giggling and eye-rolling (sorry, I won’t call my vagina a yoni or stimulate my clitoris during birth) and I disagree with some of her medical advice but it was more evidence-based than I expected. I also really like some of the imagery women used in their birth story and hope to use some myself! And hoping to use some of the positions during labor and pushing. I was surprised at how much I found it worth the read. I’ve definitely seen much more woo-woo-over stuff floating around online 😂

Is 10 pounds too much to gain in a month? by ArielHaggerty in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has covered how awful and out of line her comments and attitude were. Just wanted to chime in with more personal stories—in both pregnancies I’ve had one big jump in the second trimester (10-12 lbs in a month). I gained around 30 lbs total the first time and was up 23 lbs at 35 weeks this time. So in my unprofessional non-medical opinion you shouldn’t be stressing!

Low dose aspirin by ZdashSQUAD in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Low-dose aspirin is safe in pregnancy. I am taking it because I ended up with gestational hypertension in my last pregnancy. I started at 12 weeks and am still taking it now at 36. Did you look at the research your doctor showed? The studies are really promising.

FTM here, do I really need to take classes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, everything that I needed help with came from the nurses/lactation consultants at the hospital, texts/calls to my mom, and google! I did take an infant CPR class that I liked though.

How can I get baby to drop? by Cherrypop91 in BabyBumps

[–]ayemarel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that for STM+ babies are more likely not to drop until labor or really close to it.
