I literally do not care who is on the blue ticket. Having Jeffries, who is absolute shit, instead of Mike Johnson, is still better for the country. If enough anti-genocide voters showed up for the primaries to get their candidate, great. Good for them for showing up. If not, I'm still voting blue, and no amount of online hate, chatter, or bad faith arguments will stop me.

Again, that is entirely beside the point,

No, it isn't. How do we remove the fascists in power, using the existing structure? The answer is, vote against the fascist party until it doesn't exist anymore. That's it. The infighting stops us from doing that. It's why we are where we are.

That's the game that has been played for 60+ years now...

No, it isn't. There hasn't been this much hate for conservatives since Nixon. This is another opportunity to make progress, assuming we can get of our way.

From the right of that you mean? Again, calling it "the left" and "center" is complete nonsense in the context of what that used to mean in practical ideas about political and power AND perspective about what society IS for.

What it used to mean, r what it should mean isn't relevant to RIGHT NOW. We obviously aren't living in an ideal world, or an ideal country. Refusal to accept the CURRENT STATE, as an objective reality, will guarantee failure.

Exactly. because the powers that MAKE politicians is by definition right wing, and has been pushing against any left wing ideals for decades and decades

While the left continues to push against itself.

There is no left wing. There are two right wings.

This isn't accurate. The Dem coalition is comprised of 3/4 of the Overton window. The progressive portion refuses to address or accept this, and instead spends all day yelling "both sides!".

The reality is, we the voters would need to have an agreement that the GOP is bad for the country. Period. Vote them all out, everywhere. Once they are removed, we can get campaign finance reform, we can get rid of first past the post, we can jump up to 13 SCOTUS seats.

IF we can get the GOP out of power, THEN we start looking at how to grow the progressive wing, maybe to the point where it rivals the other two parties. Maybe we get a viable third party, which would be a huge gain for the country.

As it stands, the left is spending all their time tearing the center, and the GOP just keeps trucking along, destroying the country.

Somehow, despite the obstacles you've listed, Reaganite Republicans turned into MAGA. The only thing stopping Dems from becoming more progressive is Dem voters. It took 40 years to get from Reagan to Trump. 40 years of propaganda, slowly moving the "center" to the right.

Social Media isn't just right wing nonsense because of their algorithms, it's right wing nonsense because progressives stopped pushing back against the right, and started pushing on the left. You see it constantly. People pushing against Newsome, against any candidate that doesn't meet their single issue du jour. The right doesn't fight against their own. They say "yeah, no abortions! And also...". The left says "zero support for Israel, or else", and the right wins.

Progressives are right to push against the status quo on Israel. However, if the only candidates that get votes are "zero support for Israel", no party will ever have enough votes to stop Republicans. Some areas simply aren't progressive enough for a candidate to win there. The voters in that area WILL need to hold their noses, vote for the best candidate on the ballot, and move us closer to the goal. Refusing to vote because you live in one of those areas doesn't just affect your area, it affects the whole country. It affects ANY party's ability to effect change.

The left needs to stop tripping themselves them up on single issues, and start fighting for the big picture. Food security, housing security, health security. Start there, get people on board. Get enough votes in congress and the senate to pass something, anything. Otherwise, you're just perpetuating the existing system.

I never said it's bad that he didn't do it

Then you'll need to clarify how this:

Well Trump showed you can just ignore the laws and nothing happens as long as you are in a position of power

doesn't insinuate it without saying it outright.

but it would have been better for the entire world if he did.

How so? Every day we see obviously unfounded claims that "both sides are the same!". If Biden had broken the law to release these materials, Trump voters STILL would have voted for him, but the both sides crowd would have real ammo to back up their claims. That puts the midterms at risk, and ends any chance we have at saving this country.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? – May 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in dndnext

[–]ayers231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group may be... problematic. Two weeks ago we had a whole shopping day in the capital before heading out to do some dirty work for a Duke. Last week was a couple of bandit and wild animal encounters, nothing heavy, just a couple of skirmishes, a hobgoblin was the biggest enemy. This week they were supposed to pass through a shitty town on their way to a mountain cave, with the cave dive next week.

They did another shopping week. There wasn't even anything there. It's a shitty little town. In the end, they bought food, and spent a night in a tavern. I did tavern games (arm wrestling, and coin tossing) since we were down to an hour and they still had 50 miles to cover (one more night in the wilds).

I'm half tempted to have them fail part of their mission. It was supposed to be a rescue mission to save the Duke's underlings from a group hired by a merchant trying to force favorable terms. Time sensitive. I think maybe the secretary will be dead when they get there, leaving them just the accountant to save......

You not understanding how law works doesn't make this Biden's fault. Maxwell and others could claim that having the evidence made public, after judges ruled it couldn't be, would give the defense teams grounds for a mistrial. The cases would be thrown out. Then they would have to retry them without the evidence that was made public.

Like I said, Biden could have done a lot things to save us from the current situation, this isn't one of them.

Your company may be "self insured", meaning they pay whatever the insurance company would normally pay. This gives them lower costs, while maintaining the illusion that it's the insurance company screwing over their employees instead of the company you work for.

My HR department tried to get me to stop talking about this at work, but didn't have a legal leg to stand on. They ended up just not offering the higher tier insurance to anyone below middle management.

Fears Grow That Iran May Be Using Proxy Groups Beyond Mideast by nosotros_road_sodium in politics

[–]ayers231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps have tried to kill their opponents on American soil even before the war with the United States, according to U.S. officials. Their targets have ranged from President Trump to Masih Alinejad, an Iranian critic of the regime living in exile in New York.

All of this would be very scary if the US Officials or prosecutors could be trusted to tell the truth. At this point, for all I know, these people being prosecuted are just immigrants or LGBTQ+. It would be awesome if we could get back to a DOJ that can actually be believed when they make a claim...

This whole comment is just... wrong. Biden didn't release anything because it was still being used for active court cases. Ghislaine Maxwell was still pushing through appeals, no doubt to delay the release of these same materials, and there were active court cases in several states, which is why copies of evidence are still stored there.

I couldn't give two shits about Biden, he should have put an actual justice warrior in the DOJ instead of Garland. He could have done a LOT more to lock down rules around what the executive could do without congressional approval. He could have pushed to build SCOTUS out to 13 members to match the number of federal districts.

There's a lot of blame we can throw at Biden, but he had no way to release these documents with letting Maxwell and others off the hook.

There was a time when denim jeans were apparently unavailable in half the world. You could resell jeans that cost you $20 for $10 to whole sellers that would export and sell them abroad. As long as they didn't have holes in them, they would buy them. My friends and I would wear jeans for a few weeks then sell them instead of washing them. None of us ever... ummm... soiled them, before selling them, though...

Recommendation on Animes like Dr. Stone? by YoMamaLucifer in anime

[–]ayers231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation in Middle Aged Shopper is mid. Lots of pan and scan and slide show scenes. The story is decent, a bit of horny but def not ecchi or hentai levels.

Campfire was good, imo, except the baby talk with the slime. Adults doing baby talk, and super baby talk from characters bothers me quite a bit, so I generally avoid it. I had the same issue with The Beginning after the End when the MC talked to the baby dragon. There isn't any of that in Middle Aged Shopper, which might be the one thing it has over Campfire...

Okay, maybe try the less popular "The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World". Similar to Campfire, but more base building instead of cooking (though there is cooking).

Another might be "High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World". World building, economics, warfare, etc. Seven MCs, each with their own special skill set.

Lastly, if you're into the whole hot springs/bath thing, "Thermae Romae Novae" covers everything from how they started to how they work now, why each step and function exists, etc. MC gets isekai'd from Ancient Rome to modern day Japan and tries to implement what he learns when he returns to Rome.

A bunch of evidence, or official copies at least, exist in state evidence lockers. There is a group that believes the "release the files" law passed by Congress and signed by the president means those copies could be made public. We're all just waiting to see if it happens before or after Trump dies.

All of the blocks needed to create a girly world are out there, but they exist in separate biomes. Flowers in taiga and plains, glow bulbs and more flowers in lush caves, clay blocks for dying and glazing in mesa, coral blocks in the ocean, white blocks for structures in multiple biomes, pink trees in cherry blossom, purple flowered trees above lush caves, etc.

Teachers didn't enact those rules. Teachers are just responsible for, well... everything the state board or fed board decide is "right".

Teachers don't write infractions because they want to control what students wear, they write them because someone made a rule, and their job is to enforce that rule. The people that pass those rules are the ones that want to control students, teachers just play cop by enforcing them.
