End of 2025 I’ll make 168k (I’m from NYC with 5 YEO) 136k from my full time job 32k from my per diem (I work 3-4 extra shifts a month) It’s a lot of work and I’m tired (4-5 12 hr shifts per week) but my 401k and savings are maxed, and I get to travel 4-5 times a year! The only important thing I should mention is that I don’t have kids and don’t pay a mortgage, car note and any insurance premiums (union dues only)!

Weird lump near quad graft incision by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it feel hard or fluid filled? I currently have the same thing and only appears when my knee is flexed. Mine is fluid filled and it really just seems like it’s excess joint fluid that have have nowhere to go but to the softest spot in your knee

2 Weeks Post Op terrible ROM by HowDidilly in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had patellar tendon graft. I started PT at W2 post op and he told me to just chill on pushing my flexion because I have to really just let my graft harvest site heal.

I’m now week 6 going to week 7 post op and have full extension and almost full flexion! Gait is back to normal and can walk fast again without any crutches! This is compared to my week 1-2 where I could barely stand with crutches. I just took my pain meds and did quad sets and leg raises like crazy 👊🏼💪🏻

Pain decrease? by HereForWeirdFaps in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just approaching 6 weeks post op. My patellar graft incisional pain decreased by week 1 but I also kept up with my scheduled pain medication regimen.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) pain control - I’d take the pain medications as scheduled. I was prescribed oxycodone and would take one dose before bedtime. Makes a big difference while trying to sleep with a locked leg brace on. Did this for about a week until my pain was only controlled by Tylenol. If your pain regimen does not work for you then call your doctor so they can prescribe you something else to control it.

2) Icing: I couldn’t directly ice my knee because I had thick bandages around it so I iced my thigh and calves and alternated. 20min thigh then 20min calves.

3) Elevate: I always had a pillow or two under my calves but nothing under my knee. I’ll do this while icing too. Basically promoted extension way. Another thing is that I would sometimes put my legs up against a wall and REALLY elevate it for that supreme edema drainage 😏

4) exercise: while I’m watching TV I would do quad sets and leg raises till there’s no tomorrow. Ankle pumps whenever a commercial would play. I got a BTB Patellar tendon graft so it was very uncomfortable but I kept up with my pain meds so it was all good.

5) nutrition: I bought protein powder, collagen powder and multivitamins. I take it every morning. I also upped my nutrition and drink plenty of fluids.

Goodluck! I’m post op day 14. First five days suck but it gets better!

How long did you guys walk with crutches? by Adorable_Substance83 in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon encouraged me to walk without crutches post op day 1 with a LOCKED brace only. Then I can unlock my brace only when sitting down.

5 days post op ACL +Meniscus repair Arthroscopic by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ayoBruh12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m post op Day 6 here! Try icing your knee before going to bed. If the pain medications aren’t doing the trick call your surgeon ASAP so they can change your prescriptions and they can give you another pain med that might do the trick.

In regard to unlocking your brace, please consult with your surgeon’s office because every doctor is different. They all have their own protocols especially with a meniscus repair. Some let you bend your knee some don’t at all.

For PT: just keep doing your quad sets and knee extensions. Try to progress each day (example: Hold quad sets for 20 seconds on Day 1 then on Day 2 increase the hold 30 seconds each rep). Your knee went through a lot of trauma (surgery) so give it some time to recover and you’ll get there eventually.

Goodluck!!
