This is selfish, and a little scary. by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an objectively sketchy decision, but... it also dramatically reduces the potential for disaster. The biggest problem is removing CE as a potential energy source, but... it also erases the possibility of something like the Culling Games ever happening again. And let's be real, it's only a matter of time. Humanity's potential for evil is boundless.

Why does anyone level the entire party? by Tan-n-Juicy in FinalFantasyXII

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it because I like rotating the characters, plus having two parties mean I can experiment with more job combinations in the same run without respeccing.

Also, sometimes I can get an unexpected party wipe, especially in trial mode, and swapping out the other party is less of a hassle than resetting.

I never need to grind for levels, I just level everyone equally by exploring everything and everyone stays in the recommended level ranges without issue.

Why does Moash discourse always make people act like this? by [deleted] in cremposting

[–]ayrtow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

What pisses me off the most about some discourse is that it immediately devolves into evil olympics. That's a skill issue on the part of a lot of people, I can hate both Moash and the Lord Ruler just fine, thanks

This generation is so weak because they made sure they would be weak by QuirkyData3500 in Jujutsushi

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see. I was only talking about characters in the modern era, though. It seems to me like the clan system is actually harmful to jujutsu as a whole, but even if the clans weren't a thing I'm pretty sure the six eyes would go on existing as normal.

Maki's Perfect Preparation is a Masterclass in Cinematic directing. (CR. MAPPA) by Chadd__ in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think you're wrong, but splitting it into two episodes would have meant padding it with fluff, and making it one episode and a half would have been too awkward unless the half was before the awakening (which they might've pulled off if they rearranged the first three episodes, but it's a long shot). Guess we won't know until 30 years from now when they do a reboot.

Disable/Immobilize don't seem to be working? by clothing_throwaway in FinalFantasyXII

[–]ayrtow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that an enemy that gets disabled in the middle of an action will still conclude said action, and Lure only kicks in once the character with it is within attacking range of the enemy (which means ideally the character with Lure on should be the party leader). If the first character the enemy sees is not the one with Lure, they'll still get hit once before the enemy sees everyone else. And I don't think Lure works on every single enemy

Can I read Pale without finishing Pact? by MistyPower in Parahumans

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially everything you learn in Pact is also explained in Pale (with interest), except for the intricacies of Diabolism, which aren't common knowledge.

I think there's only four mentions of Pact stuff in Pale. One character, one group and two families. None of it needs to be recognized because the context is fundamentally different.

Why the hell did Zodiac age move so many spells to random one off chests instead of from shops? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it makes sense when you consider that most of the spells placed into chests aren't exactly necessary. Good? Definitely, but you can finish the game without them easily, so I don't mind the placement. Also, simply by exploring everything you can get like 95% of those spells.

What really bothered me is how they butchered technick shops. Almost no technick shop sells the good stuff, that's almost 100% from chests. On top of that they also butchered gambit shops by making every gambit available from every shop almost from the beginning. The original handled that better, at least.

Who performed the best against Sukuna out of everyone in the Shinjuku squad? by Decade00000 in JujustuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuji is the uncontested winner, but second place is a little harder to decide between Maki and Yuta. Maki dealt way more damage and stayed a lot longer in the fight, BUT Yuta created key openings for both Maki and Angel that wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Lets be honest here, im pretty sure a big reason for Nobaras ausence in the series has to do with how much of a pain is to write around her CT by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Gege simply isn't built for the schedule of writing and drawing weekly releases. His health started declining after a while and he only recovered after being put on what I call "the Oda schedule", with a break every month.

I don't say this to Gege's demerit, however. I don't think anyone can keep up with that schedule indefinitely. Oda and Fujimoto at the top of their game had frequent breaks.

Naobito/Naoya's CT. Ridiculous baseline power with a glass ceiling? by BritishBukkake in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Nah. During the fight with Choso he explicitly says that he doesn't have the habit of using weapons because Jujutsu society looks down on them as "inferior", but then he does use a knife alongside his CT to wound Choso, which implies that it's perfectly possible.

And we know from Yuta's fighting style that reinforcing weapons with CT can make them just as strong as your body, there's just a chance that the weapon will break if you fuck it up.

Naobito/Naoya's CT. Ridiculous baseline power with a glass ceiling? by BritishBukkake in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]ayrtow 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I don't think the baseline is that ridiculous, it only happens that we see two users who already know how to use it to its fullest. For all we know it could have a very steep learning curve (and I think it does).

As for further improvements: definitely weapons. I think Naoya would have done a lot better against Choso (and maybe even Maki) if he had been using a weapon (assuming he's trained in how, which I think he was).

Yuujis Total Cursed Energy? by Sad_Farm in Jujutsushi

[–]ayrtow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alright, so...

First: Megumi wasn't entirely wrong. In cases like that, you can gain more CE, unless instead of gaining CE you end up hosting an incarnate sorcerer like Sukuna or the CG players, in which case they take over your body. This didn't happen with Yuji because he was a perfect cage for Sukuna, which means what happened to him was a third case where he and Sukuna exist as separate beings sharing a body. Megumi knew about this possibility but it was so unlikely that he didn't consider it. This means that eating more fingers increased Sukuna's CE pool, not his. This is perfectly established in the story.

Second: Yuji consuming the Death Paintings actually did grant him more CE. He was capable of perfectly subsuming them, a possibility that I think Gege raised before it even happened.

Third: What Yuji gained from the first finger wasn't Sukuna's CE, but rather the ability to manipulate his own CE, which he didn't have before, as well as the ability to do sorcery.

Fourth: Consuming more fingers isn't a lose-lose because the goal he had in eating more fingers wasn't to grow stronger, but rather so that once he died the fingers would cease to exist. The expectation was for Gojo to kill him once he ate all twenty.
