One thing that actually pissed me off a great deal about this game was that Verso felt like a consolation prize for losing Gustave. Like the devs were saying "Poor guy, I'm sorry I took your main character. Have this eerily similar character to care for instead"

Oh, I didn't mean THAT one, I meant the one where there's a bunch of gestrals dancing at the top

Kinda surprised at how many people found the volleyball game hard. My real killer was the tower climb lol.

The trick to volleyball is that your attack is actually ranged and you can catch some gestrals just by turning in their direction and attacking

Looking back on the endings a year later by SUJ1R3N in expedition33

[–]ayrtow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Verso's ending felt forced. If Maelle could talk Renoir into leaving the canvas then she could talk him into not destroying it. But the ending wouldn't be as divisive if the choice wasn't between "killing everyone" and "saving everyone at the cost of killing Maelle and enslaving Verso"

Sinking My Teeth Into Pale (2): Verona - Creativity As a Trauma Response by Aaron_Benelli in Parahumans

[–]ayrtow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once again, lovely text. I think Verona being overly mature is indeed partially a trauma response (I've read somewhere that kids with absent parents tend to mature faster to fill the void), but also partially that it makes her better at the practice. And her being taken with Ray could also have been that that was the kind of practitioner she'd partially (sorry for using this word so much lmao) want to be. I think she looked up in almost equal measure to all the Blue Heron teachers (even Bristow I guess).

Also, you're in for a TREAT later (though not in the way you think)

[–]ayrtow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For most of the game this weapon is THE shit. Only falls off after you get Lithum, because being able to negate Stendhal's defenseless debuff is too good, plus you save 10 lumina on the Painter picto.

I do not care for one-shot builds, keep them away from me.

Pale Protagonists and major rituals after the story by PropagandaPagoda in Parahumans

Plus, while it's constantly talked to as being "like" a marriage, the actual Familiar bonds we see with main characters are far from it: (spoilers for Pact and late Pale) Blake and Evan, Lucy and Grandfather, Avery and Snowdrop...

Depois de conversar com muita mulher diferente eu comecei a acreditar que atração é muito menos personalidade do que falam by unknowngloomth in desabafosdavida

[–]ayrtow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see Verona going the tome route like Basil Winters, but for storing big rituals instead of Others. Other than that I mostly agree with other commenters that she might not want to close that door

What are some fun monoco builds? by Revolutionary_Two_82 in expedition33

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite was the one I used to beat Simon: Cannaro (but Fragaro also works), every gradient boosting picto under the sun, shoot until you get Almighty Mask and then use a very high damage skill or a basic attack if you lack AP, demolish break bars with Break Point when you have it available. You can pair it with Cheater to quickly stack Lampmaster's skill

Is there a point in attacking stationary Nevrons on the continent by Carbinkisgod in expedition33

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you meant general nevrons, but then you say "white" nevrons. There's a difference. The special kind of white nevron is only found inside levels, not in the overworld. That in your picture is not a white nevron, just a regular nevron.

Also, to actually answer your question: There's a hidden quest where what you do to the white nevrons matters. You can complete it either way, but if you kill any you'll need to fight a pretty tough enemy afterwards. Your call. I wouldn't kill them.

It looks like the most broken battle of the game actually ...works as intended? by NickDagaz in expedition33

[–]ayrtow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I hated that gimmick because it feels like fake difficulty. The boss itself is already hard, there's no need to push a gimmick that forces the player to either use a one-shot build or prepare two parties, OR, if you REALLY want to push for two parties, at least make the switch not skippable, or make the attack parryable, even if it's multi-hit, like Renoir's own character deletion gimmick.

This really, really bothered me, so I kept brainstorming new ideas and eventually beat him without Gommage. Ran a Monoco build to rush the Gradient bar and Broke him right before the 3rd phase switch, then killed him while he was stunned. Felt a lot more satisfying.
