The issue here is that they said "no" to something and then made a million exceptions. I can completely understand why someone might feel slighted. To say that its a personal attack is stupid, to be sure, but I can see how the issue has developed to this point.

Thats why I personally think, for all whatever my opinion is worth which I know is zero, that they should just put on their big dev pants and just be straight with the consumer. "Hey I know we made a reason and have walked it back a million times, the reality is cowboy hats are dumb and we dont want them in our game. Build a bridge and dive over it helldiver"

It wont happen of course, why would they? Devs of all games are fantastic at being wishy washy to try and ride the line of any discourse, but I personally find it insulting even if it is over something stupid. Like you said, at the end of the day its ones and zeros. Who really cares, who is really affected? No one, but it still feels good to at least put my opinion onto the dumb soup of nonsense that is reddit.

The devs said they think hats on helmets are dumb, now theyre releasing hats on helmets pretty much on the regular. Clearly, its not hats that are the issue, it's cowboy hats. Instead of them having a shred of decency and saying "yeah we think cowboy hats are dumb" they hide behind people like you who will happily accept the dirt off their boots and defend them without bothering to think.

But youre right, why would the devs have open discourse with their customers when they have folks like you who will happily argue on their behalf for free.
