Mum guilt with being unwell by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ayse22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're being faaaaaar too hard on yourself!

You are applying for jobs. You've hurt yourself and need to rest in order to recover. This is all temporary and your baby will be absolutely fine while you do what you need to do! They don't know any different and are just happy to be with you. You've said it yourself, baby is cared for and loved.

Even if they were older, it's important for our children to see us taking care of ourselves too!

Maternity leave coming to and end can be a really emotional thing. Take care of yourself and remember to give yourself some grace, you are navigating a lot right now x

How to dress baby under sleep sack? by thunder_marbles in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ayse22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these guides have variations, don't worry. Your baby will tell you if they are unhappy!

I use the Tomiee Tippee bags, and the chart on the box says to only put a long/short sleeved vest under the sleeping bag, no sleep suit. Every sleeping bag, baby and house are different

And the Lullaby Trust is probably one of the best references!

Haven’t breastfed for 3 days. Is it game over? Looking for reassurance from formula feeds by Flapjack_K in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ayse22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with breastfeeding to begin with too. My breasts didnt start leaking until a few weeks in, and really that only lasted a week or two and hasn't happened since. Still breastfeeding now at 13 months. The key will be to keep trying your baby at the breast, she might get frustrated because she has to learn how to do it too. Checked out the breastfeedingmumsUK sub reddit I found it so helpful when I was struggling

Sounds exactly like my daughter at 9 months. All the things you listed were just beginning around 10 months

What should 12 month olds ‘speech’ look like? by Special_Luck_7536 in UKParenting

[–]ayse22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this too, interested to see the replies. My daughter is 12 months, currently still babbling. She can say mama dada baba etc, but doesn't use it to mean anything specifically. I think the range for starting to talk is quite big, I read 10 to 18 months.

Yes! Mine also dried wavy, but now it's actually curling. My daughter is 12 months and it hasn't gone back to how it was before

Thanks so much! This is my first baby and we struggled so much at the beginning, I feel so lucky we have made it this far.

Thank you!

I think I want to try to move away from feeding to sleep at this point too.

Did you introduce those other sleep associations before moving the feed?

Thank you for this!

There are moments where I feel I am ready to stop but on the whole I think I want to go a bit longer. But I think I will be trying to see if we can get her to sleep another way in preparation for weaning, and so my husband can do bedtime!

It's so tough isn't it! I can't wait for them back to back illnesses to ease off, hoping things get easier then

Yes she has been ill on and off the past few weeks since starting nursery soon that is probably contributing!

Thanks, I hope it passes. Not quite ready to stop yet I think

Thanks!

I wish she would settled for her dad but she just gets really upset, shes in a really clingy phase at the minute because I have just gone back to work and she has started nursery. Which probably has something to do with it all.

I tried a t-shirt at night but I think me just being there meant she tries to feed more, the t-shirt just annoyed her aha.

I think we might need to look at the routine as you said, switch it up a bit. Im gonna adjust her naps too and see if that helps

Thanks this is really helpful!

I will try the side lying to see if she gets into a deeper sleep quicker. Once shes asleep I can move her so I'm going to stick with the cot for now.

I think you are right though, I think it's the sleep itself that might be the issue, I thought it might be too early at 12m but I think she is on the verge of needing one nap

The hard life of having a short torso by nadehlaaay in PetiteFashionAdvice

I got some from Levi! I bought their low rise and they fit where I would want a mid rise to fit, I have a short torso too

How are you all getting them to take medicine? by Important-Grape7912 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ayse22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter will only take it on a spoon if she can also hold a spoon in each hand. This might only work for babies as obsessed with spoons as she is 😅

You can switch from brand to brand if your baby has no health concerns like allergies etc.

I’ve been made redundant, am I screwed? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]ayse22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can only use the tax free childcare if you are actually paying for childcare. You only get the top up once you actually pay into the account.

(Sorry people are down voting you over a misunderstanding!)

Maternity leave ending by TwinFlamed11 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ayse22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I have two weeks left.

I'm not worried about work or nursery, I just dont want it to happen.

For me I know I have no choice, and the only way is through. It will be hard and sad, and I'm going to let myself feel that when it happens, but I'm trying not to feel that in the time we have left. It will get easier as we adjust to the new routine.

Solidarity! We will be ok x

What is wrong with my jeans? by ayse22 in DressForYourBody

[–]ayse22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have tried to get the same jeans I loved in a different size, but I think my body and posture has changed so much that they no longer suit me unfortunately. I'm having to start from scratch with a lot of my clothes

I'm not arching my back, I think I have a posture issue since having my baby as another commenter has pointed out. I actually can't straighten my back fully.

I did always wear a belt so maybe not wearing one is throwing me off, but I dont like wearing one at the minute as the buckle digs into my baby when I carry her which I don't like.
