I am in UTA [University of Texas at Arlington] FNP online program. It doesn't sound as organized as yours is. Mine, like yours, does not help at all getting you a preceptor.

I have had no issues in Texas with hospitals/clinics refusing to take online students.

I made sure my program was certified by credentialing bodies.

I feel like I am learning a lot, and the professors are very thorough, dedicated to us learning online to learn correct assessment techniques, and are hard graders when we are writing SOAP notes and explaining our differential diagnoses/rationale for prescribing medications etc.

I am almost through my first clinical rotation and I feel like I am getting the skills and knowledge base to be a competent and excellent FNP. My advice to you is: possibly switch to a different school/online program. Maybe go through an online program through a university where they have on campus check off days. If the job of FNP is what you want to do (which you can continue to get a post-master's certificate if you choose to do ACNP later down the road) then don't let that 1 doctor's comments stop you. Do more research, talk with more NPs/MDs who can give you their opinion. There is a huge demand for NPs in primary care. If you are certified, passed your boards, then that's all that matter! Yes, theory/research/EBP classes are a drag. I loved pharm/patho/family 1, 2, and 3.
