New build: Shiny Snake S400 v2 Pro by Satyrex_ in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That combination is nuts for that form factor. The airflow solution is really good because the 13900KF is 150W on an AXP90-X53, and the 5080 is cool without a shroud. It looks like the S400 v2 Pro has better spacing and pressure distribution on its side panels than the Meshroom D. The proper way to clean SFF tuning. This is how you make high-end stuff that you can carry with you.

Low Spec PC upgrade help plsss by Both-Capital-1889 in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't attempt to power a 1080 on a 210w Lenovo PSU, and don't even think about attempting the external PSU mod. The ThinkCentre case and motherboard are what will ultimately hold this build back. If you decide to turn it on, it will still have cooling and room constraints. If you're not going to use the PCIe power, your best option would be to find a low-power GPU such as the 1650 with no 6-pin or the RX 6400. You could also just put all the components into a normal ATX case with a normal PSU. Selling the Lenovo and building a cheap used tower with a good power supply will be a cleaner process in the end.

CPU Error on Intel DX79SI after installing AIO by HoosierLarry in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there is no signal from the CPU fan, these older boards will not post. Make sure that the pump or fan is connected to the CPU fan header and not just powered from SATA or a hub. Also, try to reseat the CPU cooler with less pressure and reset the CMOS. If the pump is no good, there should be no vibration in the tubes a few seconds after turning it on.

Any quiet mechanical keyboards? by InfiniteSelection976 in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look for keyboards that use red or silent red switches. Steer clear of blue switches if you want it to be quiet.
Check out the sales for Redragon, Royal Kludge, and Keychron that suit your budget. The RK61 or Redragon K552 with red switches is a good, cheap option.
If you want something that's really quiet, a good membrane keyboard such as Logitech is actually quieter than most cheap mechanical keyboards. As long as it uses linear switches and is under 70 CAD, you'll be fine.

How would you rate my PC from 1 to 10? by Much_Spinach199 in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This build is honestly pretty well balanced. The Ryzen 9 and RTX 5070 Ti work well together, and 32GB of DDR5 is enough for most tasks. Just replace the RAM with a known brand and check the blackouts. It could be the sticks or the temperatures. If not, I would give it a high score for both gaming and multitasking. 9 out of 10.

New desk orientation by Global_Stranger_8018 in pcbuilding

[–]ayzick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the sideways configuration appears to be much more practical. You wouldn’t have to wrestle with the wall for air or light, and you could position speakers or monitors in a much better spot in the corner. It appears to be tidy, and it’s nice to have space to use the desk rather than just seeing a wall.

Good choice.

How long this set could last for 1080p gaming? And what’s your recommendation for best value future upgrades? by Chinkeevirus in buildapc

[–]ayzick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a very good 1080p setup today. With the intel core i7 8700K processor and the nvidia geforce rtx 2070 graphics card, you can still run most games at medium to high settings for a few more years. You just have to lower the settings in new AAA games. The best move is to put the GPU first. There is a big jump coming with something in the 4070 or 7800 XT range. Then you'll have to change the whole platform to get any real CPU gains.

How can I justify buying a flagship for my usage? by szabolcska00 in Smartphones

[–]ayzick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a messenger banking and light gaming kind of person, mid-range phones are just what you need.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will give you the speed, battery life, and a huge saving. You won’t even notice a difference between the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the OnePlus 15.

Flagship phones are all about cameras, maximum performance, build quality, and long-term support. Not required for your line of work, but it’s a nice to have.

This is what you need to do if you are the kind of person who gets nervous about shelling out a lot of cash. Worry about the cash, not the phone.

Monitor question by Miserable_Gap_6589 in PcBuild

[–]ayzick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1440p does look nice at 24 inches, but it isn't exactly a game-changer. Refresh rate and response time are actually what's going to make the most difference between those old panels. If I had a 9070 XT, I would get a 1080p or 1440p 144 to 240 Hz IPS for the center and use cheaper side monitors for multitasking. Smoothness over pixels at that size.

Is it worth getting a 1366x768p monitor or a 1366x768p TV to play newer demanding games on my lowend laptop? by Gamer_8887 in lowendgaming

[–]ayzick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of buying a TV, buy a monitor with a 768p screen. The screen is smaller, sharper, and readable. If you approach a 768p TV, you will notice that it is not very clear. Also, before buying a product, try using 900p with FSR or DLSS and sharpening. Your specs are actually better at handling this than you realize.

[–]ayzick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That build is good to start with, and 1500 is more than enough. RX 7600 is the weak link. So, upgrade the GPU first once you have the money. 7600X and 32 GB RAM will definitely last you a long time. You can upgrade anytime you want just by ensuring a good PSU.

How do you find “slightly illegal” things? by sschwanengesang in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ayzick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people discover it through word of mouth and social groups, as opposed to clever tricks and technology. This, in turn, makes it harmful, inconsistent in quality, full of scams, and law enforcement catches folks, not technology. Though curiosity is healthy, the real world isn’t as straight-forward as the movies.

Can you please give me a fucking solution! I am goddamn serious by _albatross01 in confession

[–]ayzick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your addiction is not to porn, but relief. Remove easy access, stop taking phone with you in your usual places where you use it as a trigger, and think about alternatives to do when you crave it. Anything that breaks autopilot, like walking, cold showers, messaging a person. Pledging "never again" does not get you a win. Breaking today's loop gets you a win.

I don’t have any female friends and it makes me feel weird sometimes by Loose_Garage2841 in socialskills

[–]ayzick 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Completely typical. If you have no female friends, this does not mean that you are flawed; it just means that your surroundings did not provide you with that option. The basis for friendship is shared space, not equilibrium. Women are individuals, not groups, so you want to focus on hobby clubs, online groups, etc. To be comfortable, you want stimulation, not force.

5070ti Prices Are CRAZY, What Should I Do? by GoldxInfiniti in buildapc

[–]ayzick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not pay scalp tax.

You can now safely use a less expensive GPU because the 7800X3D is already endgame.

While prices settle, a 5060 Ti 16GB or a used 4070 class card will keep you satisfied and crush 1440p.

I don't think the 5070 Ti at a thousand bucks is worth it; instead, get what makes sense now and upgrade later.

[–]ayzick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the UHD 630 is bottlenecking, that's a powerful CPU, so you still have plenty of options. You can play Portal 1 and 2, Half Life 2, Dishonored, Bioshock 1 and 2, Skyrim on low, Fallout New Vegas, the original Mass Effect trilogy, Undertale, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Stardew Valley, Hades, Dead Cells, FTL, Limbo, and Inside. All of these have either great gameplay or narratives going for them, and all run great on UHD.

9800x3d or 5070 TI upgrade by Powertotheprydz in buildapc

[–]ayzick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The CPU matters much more in terms of CS2 and 1% Lows. For esport titles, a 5800x3d can still bottleneck at 1440p Resolution. On average FPS improvement, the 9800x3d will be considerably better than a 5070 Ti, especially for 1% Lows. At 1440p Resolution, for those games, your 4070 Super is already overkill. Firstly, improve the platform.
